coxp001ParticipantMark Harris reckoned £450 to cover all pools, entry fees, ferry and house share for the week. Obviously need food, beer and bait on top of that.
So call it £2k. Lol -

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantIts a 1 grand trip I would imagine that’s about what a festival / trip normally costs me if you spend 2 grand then your drinking too much and you wouldn’t catch me doing that

TF_geepsterParticipantSpoke to Derek Willan this morning he’s just back from the Pairs followed by another festival on Muckno – the fishing he said was superb all week. As was the craic. Ireland on the way back?

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantIt wasnt just the fishing that spoilt it for me Geeps,a lot of Irish capitilized when they implemented the Euro as currency, I know changing a currency is expensive but I like many felt their conversions were artificially high.

just a quick one no mention of the dreaded zebra mussels this years which made the water gin clear interesting very interesting
The zebras haven’t gone away, but so haven’t the fish. Its been the best years fishing in Ireland since the last hot summer of 2006.
Someone had 40kg plus of roach on a whip at the Muckno pairs last week….awesome.

TF_stevelockett2013Chris, the Zebras in Garadice are dying. It may be they’ve overreached themselves, hopefully. If you read the report in the Angler’s Mail this week, you’ll see there is a far greater threat there called the Asian Clam. It is not so much of a problem for anglers fishing, but will limit the growth of juvenile fish if allowed to spread.

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantChris last time I went there were so many zebras they were giving you bites you struck and they had dissolved your braid !

TF_allyParticipantHi dunno is there anywhere to see results of the muckno pairs. I used to fish this match for years before kids. Might well be able to go again in the next few years. There would seem to have been more of the bank opened up for anglers since I was last there, can only be good.

TF_waveydavey21Ally,
If you look on Facebook under Irish Angling Development Alliance there is quite few posts about Muckno, including one from one angler who had 44k on peg 99 on Concra Wood during the pairs match.
There are now 220 totally accessible pegs with a road that runs behind all the sections. Under Dick Caplice’s management (and others) the venue has been transformed.
The Muckno Autumn festival starts on Monday and runs for 5 days. I think the results with be posted on there.
A superb venue.
Come back to Ireland you don’t know what you are missing.
Some great articles in this months MF also to help wet the appetite.
I am sure Dunno will confirm what I have said.

TF_allyParticipantThanks wavy, but I am not on Facebook. I do know what I am missing but 3 kids change priorities. Muckno is my favorite venue over there, even though my best weights were from the Barrow. It sounds as though it’s only got better with all the work that’s been done.

The results will be on fishingtalkireland as wavey davey said.
Muckno is the best match venue in Europe as it stands and fish can be caught on all methods. There is bank side parking at 200 pegs all year round. It is only venue in the British Isles which has been ratified as a suitable World Championship venue by CIPS.
As for the kids…… bring them along, as the shallow section on White Island pegs 130-150 on the ski jump side is only 3 foot deep and in the summer 20kg plus is available in every peg. 🙂

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantThanks for the response, I wonder if you could take a few of the smaller land locked lakes and heavily stock them or would there not be enough food ? And I don’t mean fill em with carp either put tench, skimmers and ide
