Redditch Federation AVVC teams of three open, Arrow Valley Lakes
Local teams took a back seat in the inaugural Redditch Federation AVVC teams of three Open fishing match at Arrow Valley Lake on Saturday with 16 teams from all over the country vying for the £600 first prize.
The event was decided on section points with the “Affers 3” team of John Halfpenny, Nigel Davis and Jack Eades the pick of the local lads, finishing in third place with a 16 point total behind Gloucestershire based team “ Bait –Tech Young Un’s”, who took the top honours with a ten point score and “Paddy’s Pellets”close behind on twelve and the “Shakespeare Handsfords” squad from Southampton fourth on 17.
Individually, Paul Garner, fishing for Starlets, took the top spot with a cracking catch of over 163lb from hot peg 70, Paul had 6 carp for about 60lb and a 100lb of bream all taken on method feeder tactics with small white boilies on the hook.
Affers 3 men filled the next two places with Nigel Davis second with a pole caught 67lb of skimmers with a few proper bream taken on pellets from peg 45 and John Halfpenny with 63lb from peg 55.
