Ringstead Fly Fishing July 16th, 2013
Hi All
week 8/7/13 to 14/7/13
The hot weather has driven the trout into the deeper areas of the lake and although the fishing has been hard some anglers have excelled and found the tactics to tempt fish.Best of the bunch this week has been Gary Barstow of Silverstone who took 10 rainbows to 3lb mainly on buzzers from the boat in the deeps.Gary fished in 14/15 feet of water.Season ticket holders Phil and Gene Robinson from Raunds enjoyed and afternoon in the boat and again fished the deeper water areas to take 11 rainbows to 4lb on Damsel Nymphs and Buzzers in 14 feet on floating and intermediate lines.Single boat angler Nigel Cheetham from Oundle has also been one of the most successful anglers recently on the lake this time taking 6 lovely rainbows to 3lb on Buzzers and Damsel Nymphs twitching his flies up from the deeps.
Bank anglers have found the fishing very hard as the fish have moved to the deeper water areas but the odd angler who has managed to fish the deeps has caught and reported losing some very large fish to double figures. It is expected that one of these large fish may be caught very soon.
Prospects-good from the boats in the deep water areas if the weather remains hot.Tactics should remain as fishing with long leaders or intermediate lines in 15/20 feet with Damsels and Buzzers .
There is evidence of exceptional amounts of small fry in the water at this time and when the fly life diminishes the trout may well be concentrating feeding on this so watch this space!!
