Ringstead Grange August 27th
week 20/8/12 to 26/8/12
As August draws to a close this month has been somewhat challenging but the cooler conditions have seen some improvement in the fishing and this should now continue providing anglers are prepared to experiment with smaller and changing patterns.A few anglers this week have still managed their 6 fish limit when a ripple and cloud cover were experienced. These being Mr Silver of Godmanchester ,Mr G Robinson of Raunds and Mr G Barstow of Towcester. These regular anglers had fish up to 31/2 to 4lb in their catches on a mixture of bloodworm, dries and booby patterns.
The fish are still feeding in the top layers generally and on the better days anglers are still averaging 3 fish each.
Stocking this week will include a number of larger rainbows exceeding 3lb and this will continue with the water cooling down over the coming weeks to ensure prospects remain very good for those anglers seeking some exciting sport for the Autumn months ahead.
Hatches of Damsels,Caddis,Sedges dominating with a few crane flies[daddylonglegs] now showing.
Weed cutting and clearing this week has again been in operation to ensure maximum opportunity for bank and boat anglers alike. This will continue over the coming weeks in maintaining our efforts to put Ringstead Grange ahead as an excellent small trout fishing water venue in the county and beyond. We welcome anglers who have not fished at Ringstead for a number of years to return to sample the sport available in the very pleasant surroundings and friendly atmosphere.
