The unseasonal wet weather has played its part in reducing the numbers of anglers who turned out this week although again those that have braved the weather have caught some superb quality fish.Best catches this week have have fallen to imitative patterns such as damsel nymphs,black buzzers,diawl bach,caddis and hoppers close to the surface.
Boat anglers Phil&Gene Robinson of Raunds again dominated with 15 rainbows some of which were between 31/2lb and 6/7lb in weight on “washing line” method with orange blobs.Mr Mike Wibberley of Kettering also had double figure numbers of rainbows from the boat.
Highlight of the week was the visit by “Trout Fisherman”&”Airflo” doing an article for their magazine with Robert Edmunds,Peter Gathercole,Gareth Jones&Robbie Winram catching some of the superb fighting rainbows to 4lb.[Look out for the article soon!!].
Ringstead Grange also hosted an event for the “British Float Tube Association”members lead by Steve Naylor from Leeds.Anglers from various parts of the UK attended on Saturday to be greeted by some outstanding sport with the waters hard fighting rainbows.The 15 anglers who attended the event caught a mixture of rainbows and browns to 41/4lb with a total of 42 fish for 85lb being caught.Top catch was by Carl Ward with 6fish for 14lb 4oz.
Prospects for the week ahead are excellent with the promise of some settled weather conditions and with the weekly stocking being continued.
57 anglers caught 117 rainbows and 3 browns with 49 rainbows and 3 browns returned safely.
