Can anyone advise if its worth travelling into Northern France or Belgium to pick up Rive boxes?
How much for example would £1000 of UK priced Rive box cost in France or Belgium in Euros?

~naughty ~naughty just got back from Holland and we always visit two or three tackle shops and i can tell you tackle is allot dearer in Europe
and I’ve heard talk today that our VAT rate will be going up in the near future 20% or 21% so if your thinking of buying I’d do it now mate
          ~sick ~sick
they also said some companies might just swallow the increase off there margin ~think ~think can’t see that

Its not that long ago when the price in Euro land was cheaper. Typically EURO1000 in France or Belgium but £1000 in UK. At a rate of 1.17 it would probably justify a visit as you could save approximately £150 per £1000 spent.
I understand VAT is likely to increase shortly so if I decide it will be in a week or two.
Its only the weight that puts me off, from bank side comfort stance they are great.

              John,

I can undoubtedly say that you are better off buying your Rive box from the UK. I have lived in Belgium for the past 2 years and although I bought my Rive ST from here nearly 2 years ago (Exchange rate was then 1.35 and Rive hadn’t put their prices up)I still buy all my trays/winders/accessories from the UK as it is much cheaper.

For instance I have just looked on the Nathans website and they sell their D25 ST Club for 539.90, the price of one that I saw in the tackle shop I use over here last week was nearly 650 Euros. So it is more expensive after the exchange rate before you take your travelling costs into account.

As Joffy has said, I would consider buying sooner rather than later as I think the VAT increase will be upon quite soon.

              Hope this helps,

              Steve

                  Hi John.

I can absolutely agree with Steve.

I also live in Belgium and have been looking to upgrade my box. I did a lot of traveling around over here, checking the prices of Rive boxes at all the local tackle shops and prices are much better in the UK.

As Steve says, Given traveling costs and exchange rates you are better off shopping at home mate.

                  Kev

john have you considered second hand as the amount of anglers that seam to be leaving the sport i’m sure you will pick up a bargain new is great but they are a lot of money i brought one for £250 for spares i had a load of trays slide trays and a couple of keepnet holders plus the trays had the winders in might be worth looking out for one
