TF_BacseyParticipantHas anyone got a picture of these seats, and the link to nathans is showing a blank page, will be a bit gutted if i have to buy a new seat as i forked out a small fortune unless i can sell the carbonium cushion back as it costs £154.

TF_BacseyParticipantHas anyone else had the same problem with the carbonium seat?
-
24/05/2010 at 11:07 am #105641
TF_BacseyParticipantIve contacted Nathans and hes going to send the heel cushion to me and if thats better i will send back the carbonium and he will refund the difference,i know some people dont get on with these but will try it and go from there,im starting to think ive made a big mistake but hope thats not the case.Im wondering if anyones got the number of the guy who makes them so i can have a chat if ive still got a prob. Thanks Bacsey.

TF_wildingukJust wondering what you found so uncomfy about the carbonium one, or however you spell it? I have the one nathan has sent you, and don’t have any trouble with it at all. But I am thinking of buying one of the ones on ebay at the moment, just to see if it’s any more comfy…they finish today so take a look.
The thing I like with the ones with the bumb on the heel is that they stop ya butt sliding off the back of the box, and therefore help support your back a bit. They are very firm though, and do occasionally give me a numb bum. But on a whole I find them good.

TF_BacseyParticipantwildinquk,maybe its the cut out on it,the top inch or so is soft but then its hard,i dont know but its uncomfy and not as good as the milo gel seat that i had before.

TF_BacseyParticipantThe seat on ebay looks very similar to the one ive got but dont know how it compares comfort wise,i cant beleve rive dont make a seat that does not give you a numb bum but i will try the heel seat.

TF_JEFFERS15so you finally decided on it then dave! you must be winning too much pools money or charging too much for your plumbing expertise, lol. they arenice boxes though dave, i would have loved one if they were practical and affordable for me. it is a right pain if the seat is not very good though and i thought £154 for a seat, my whole matchbox cost that much.

24/05/2010 at 5:34 pm #105669
TF_paulcarpenterthe only major probs with the original rive seat and any others is that they are made out of mdf which when you fish in the rain the will swell up and will sag which in return you will not be able to shut your side or front drawer.
i have had my material taken off and made new bases out of marine ply and varnished them myself. when i say made them there is actualy 3 peices of mdf one is the base and the other two are the bases of the cheek cusions. -
24/05/2010 at 5:46 pm #105670
TF_BacseyParticipantSo what your saying is my top of the range rive seatbox that cost a grand will be uncomfy and when it rains i wont be able to shut the draw,GREAT~think

TF_BacseyParticipantThe words done and kipper spring to mind.~think Has anyone got anythig positive to say about my new purchase, come on rive fans help me out here.
-
24/05/2010 at 5:56 pm #105673
TF_JEFFERS15i would think if you a pying a grand for a seat box, then you should be getting something very good. rive’s have been around a long time and you would think that they would have sorted something like this. i would send it back dave and get another milo!!

TF_BacseyParticipantwheres all the rive fans gone that helped me decide on there product?,i must say though that the only prob ive got is the seat as the rest of the box looks to made first class.

TF_JohnHWorry not Bacsey you have the most stable box on the market IMO and I am sure Nathan will sort out your seat for you. I was out with Alan S a few weeks ago and he is a Rive man having used a faithfull Brillo for years. I asked him why he switched and he said “simply to get into the 21st century”.
I had an old RX in my garage as I was fed up with humping it around it was sooo heavy. It is now back in use and I am loving it. I fished both days last weekend, something I try to avoid as it wears me out, but my box was so comfortable I suffered no back strain at all. On one match I had to fish 16m plus all day in a parrot cage and I can honestly say it was not too bad. -

Dave, of course they will say its brilliant – so would I if I had spent that sort of money. ~clap
Surely they don’t use MDF in a box costing that much?
Should have stuck to Milo like you said you was going to.

25/05/2010 at 8:05 am #105708
TF_wildingukDon’t worry, you’ve made the right choice IMO. They are as stable as hell, and I think the most practical boxes on the market. Yes they are heavy, but then you buy one knowing that, and the milo boxes look just as heavy and bulky to me.
The tray system is genious, why else has Fox, Daiwa, Maver and everyone else under the sun tried to copy it. The rive tray system is still the best IMO, with such a range of options to choose from. They are expensive, but they do hold their value well too. You might buy yhe trays for 40-50, but will get 30-40 back. I have a matchbox I can’t sell for love nor money, well not for what I consider a fair price.
If you are worried about the weight for long river walks, get a back up box like a match box, or one of the rive stalls to fix trays too. All in all, you’ve made the right choice. Enjoy the most table box on the market, with all the options you could dream of, without worrying you will end up in the drink (I did on my matchbox hence I switched).

TF_BacseyParticipantIve just seen carpmagic sitting on a heel cushion on his rive in the AT,im wondering how he finds the comfort and would be interested in his views,im hoping to get mine today to try.

TF_DecaffBacsey , been wanting to get rid of my Rive since i purchased last year, but one of the only things i felt that it had going for it was the heel seat, which was without doubt the most comfortable seat i’ve ever sat on! At first i thought it was bloody uncomfortable but very quickly got used to it.
After a recent week spent at Stafford Moor, i have changed my mind about the box completely & it will be staying & so will the heel seat,no arse ache & no back ache, stick with it mate. -
25/05/2010 at 4:32 pm #105733
TF_mp.miloDave,the heel seat is comfortable, although it feels too firm at first,i use mine all winter and when i am on an out an out feeder match.
In the summer i use a flat seat i had made for me by Matt ( kingsway allstar) as i find the heel seat not so good when fishing down the margins and sitting sideways on. -
25/05/2010 at 9:03 pm #105770
TF_paulcarpenteryes the new rive seats are made out of mdf thats the only let down by rive. ive got the D36 st and its the best box by far, ok the price is abit steep but i got mine at a very good price so i cant complain.
as refference the mdf bases if you know someone who has a very good stapler or you can do it yourself change the mdf to marine ply and use stainless steal staples then it will last you a life time. -

TF_BacseyParticipantJust thought i would put this back to the top to see if Steve or carpmagic would coment on the rive seats as he uses one himself, thanks Bacsey.PS i now have the heel cushion which does feal hard but more comfy than the carbonium one that i had at the start.I will test in a match tommorow and hope i wont suffer any problems.

TF_BacseyParticipantI used the heel cushion fof the first time last week and did not find it to bad,ive had a refund on my carbonium cushion and i am thinking of buying one of Kingsway Allstars seats, will i be buying a more comfy seat do you think or should i stick to my heel cushion?

07/06/2010 at 6:48 am #106753
TF_CutnutMaybe the key to the Rive Seat comfort Dilemma, is in your diet and exercise regime. Those that find the seats comfortable may have a high Glutimus Maximus to bone ratio and therefore don’t feel the hardness quite so easily.
Best work on your Glutes methinks~think
