River Irwell

Hello

Just wondered if anyone has fished the river irwell on fly tackle and had any luck?

I live very close to the Irwell (I actually live in Stoneclough) and have easy access to the stretch from radcliffe through to clifton.

Any advice would be great.

i have never fished it with the fly but i have seen people much further up in Darcy Lever near the bridge that crosses the road just past Smiths res on Hacken Lane, i have fished the section here and further up near the lever bridge pub with stick floats and caught lots of trout so it would be worth a go there, the sections up in Leverhulme park also have trout in numbers.

i am a member of the lord nelson fishing club and we used to have the section near the pub but i have only ever seen some of our members fishing it with wagglers and maggots.
