I seem to be bombing on rivers – maybe I’m out of touch. Apart from a surprise trout a few weeks ago I’ve had nothing. That was on the Lark at Mildenhall and was a welcome fish – about 5 or 6 lbs and fought like a tope. Good fun on 3lb line believe me!
The little commercial waters I’ve been to have rarely failed and I’ve had some good fish. Roach and perch to well over a pound. And a few big carp (biggish but BIG on light gear). But they don’t seem the same.
I suppose it is the end of the season but I had over a 1/2 mile of river and despite moving and changing bait/tactics etc I still caught like an England wicket keeper…
Well, all I can say is roll on the new river season. Getting up at 5am will seem like a lie in. Plenty of little lakes to keep going to.And (touch wood) there’ll be some Bass on the beaches.
