Hi , new to this so go gentle. Can anybody put me in the right direction regarding good stick float pegs in newark area. I fished here in matches in the 80’s but just getting back into it. I know its cheeky but any help would be appreciated.

The water is a lot clearer and the banks a lot greener than you will remember from the 80’s
Day ticket stick float pegs on the Dyke:

          Crow trees 1 – 9 ( 5 is the flyer)
          Red Bridge 18 – 27
          Weir field 18 -22, 26 – 28

There are others but that’s where I would go – for a good day on the float I usually head for Crow Trees

Many thanks RJM for your advice. Would caster and maggot be the way to go or will that just attract small fish this time of year.

I would feed heavily with hemp at the start (take 3 pints), with maggots and casters over the top to work out which they want on the day, then 1 or 2 pouches each time when the roach either drift off or go small.
Don’t drip feed as this will encourage the roach to come up in the water to eat the hemp – unless of course you are going to fish for them with the pole and hemp/tares.
