River trent long lane Newark

I was down In Newark this week and did some fishing but also was looking for day ticket stretches that have brilliant acces ie park behind your peg went to look for the stretch at the bottom of long lane but the road petered out into a track with a notice saying no unauthorised vehicular access.
Is it ok to drive down the track or am i missing somthing here and not locating the proper access to the river?
