Angling Trust RiverFest 2014 – Qualifier Venue change

Competitors who have booked a ticket for the Angling Trust RiverFest qualifier at Evesham on Saturday 18th October should note that the venue has now had to be changed. This is due to the Evesham Rowing Club who will now be using the water for a big rowing competition on that date. Because of this the RiverFest qualifier will now be moved further down the river to Eckington.

Competition creator and Angling Trust ambassador Dave Harrell said: “The mix up on dates is unfortunate and it would be impossible to fish the competition at Evesham with so many boats on the water. We have therefore moved quickly to replace the venue. A very big thank you goes to match organiser Colin Harvey for sorting out the new venue and match headquarters. Eckington is a superb venue and one that is not used enough for big competitions in my opinion. I’m expecting it to be a very good qualifier.”

“Tickets for the new venue will be sent out to all the anglers who were originally successful in securing a place at Evesham. I can’t imagine anyone wouldn’t want to fish the new venue but if they do there is a waiting list and the place can easily be re-allocated. All the angler will need to do is contact the Angling Trust for a refund.”

If anyone would like a refund and cannot fish the new qualifier venue at Eckington please contact the Angling Trust at; 0115 9061 301/307 or alternatively email; Sandra Drew, Competitions & Events Manager at [email protected]

It’s either an April Fools’ joke or a complete cock up from the organisers not comparing dates with other river users !

The match fixtures for Hampton Ferry posted on their web-site in FEBRUARY clearly state that on 18th Oct theres a junior rowing festival !!

Surely only a minor blip in the organising skills . Better sorted now than not at all .. The lower avon could also provide some fantastic qualifiers ! Dave Harrell could maybe use it more next year . Best thing to hit angling in the last 20 yrs Well done , congratulations , keep up the good work. ! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Surely the availability of the venue would be the first thing to check…bit larger than a minor blip, me thinks.

Maybe person booking said date doesn’t think rowers to be a problem ? Only an experienced match angler would be alarmed . Compare the booking of commecial waters for the big money events . End peg city with every pallet sold by the opportunist owner . Pallets used that don’t go in under normal circumstances . Note I say pallets not pegs . Last years Riverfest was a learning curve for DH. And AT. There were some things not great about some venues . The poor ones rejected . Some local organisers put an occasional peg in that beggared belief But did it for little profit ? Remember our rivers need a lot of bank work doing after being neglected for so long ! Bring it on Best thing in the last 20 yrs . Check the size of the reserve lists !! Proof beyond doubt the fire has been rekindled !!! 😉

It’s much ado about nothing. The right decision has been made. End of.

Crazy having to take evesham out of it. You can park behind nearly all the pegs, the set up there is amazing and for it not to be in the riverfest is mind boggling.

When you say set up do you mean cafe ? Does the parking behind your peg mean so much ? Personally at my age and duff knee I too would rather not walk far . I’ve got a flask and I will lighten my kit . Eckington can be a long trudge ! Medley is aright hike !! Surely the absolute factor is in the quality of fishing . For sure the Lower Avon will not have seen the relentless pressure that Evesham suffers ! Bring on Medley and Eckington. Draw in a social , pint and a handclap at the end ! Just like the old days . Riverfest best thing in matchfishing in the last 20yrs . :p :p :p PS There’s lots of anglers want your ticket if the amenities ain’t right for you . 😀
