TF_inky fingerOne of my favourite roach waters is Fuzton lake in milton keynes but from July onwards. The roach respond to most methods but the pole is favourite, the waggler also has its fans (me). You don’t have to fish heavy as there aren’t to many carp. As for baits it’s all the usual ones, caster, hemp(if it goes flat calm).Tares and corn if your getting pestered by small fish. Pellet works very well. Also they can respond to lots of dark gb.The pole line depth goes from about 4ft on the shallows to 8ft on the hotel bank. The bonus fish tend to be tench on the pole and bream on the waggler. There is a cheap big hotel next to the lake so you can stay over and the shopping centre is easy to get to (ten mins by car… well sign posted)if the wife wants to come down. The day ticket is about £5 on the bank.Bring a feeder rod as there are lots of bream to be had. The England team in all their levels seem to turn up from time to time as it been used for many big matches. On the down side there is little privacy, the carp anglers who fish 3 rods each at 100yrds 1 out 2 along the bank. Worst of all is the 20 something girls in tiny running shorts, very distracting and surprisingly quick !
The other mk water is lodge lake, under used and full of roach. Again its the pole and waggler. The waggler can be more successful as it can go gin clear.Lodge is the place to take that 12ft super soft waggler rod thats been gathering dust(microlight, crystalight or polly speicals)Fish fine with small hooks and 0.8 line and drakes 1grm crowquill wagglers or drennan thin wagglers at about 12mtrs. The roach like to come up so fish a heavy goundbait line and a loose feed line. The roach will come in very close. On the downside there is a close season on this lake and no 20 something girls in running shorts. DT on the bank £5, please bring your rod licence it will be checked. -

TF_KatarinoDefine “best”? You want Big Bags, Big Roach or just loads of bites?
Test, Hampshire Avon, Severn at Stourport/Ribbesford, Thames at Donnington/Iffley/Medley/Eynsham, Windrush around Burford, even some ‘secret’ bits of the Colne around Staines.
All have to be caught right but catch them when they are and you’ll never fish a commie again.

TF_KatarinoI know mate, Wallingford is heaving as well if you catch it right but for average size I think Donnington and Iffley have it on Thames. You can’t get your bloody hands round them. ~clap
Think it’ll come down enough to fish next weekend?
