Rod license problems online

Dont know if this topic has already been highlighted.

Anyone who tried to purchase a rod license last Friday online and had it state that “the purchase had been declined and to try another card”, please be aware that the funds will have been taken from their account. I tried on three occassions and also got my mother to try who tried twice. I evntually got one online on Sunday with a confirmation e-mail.

I then found out yesterday that I have had four payments taken, contacted the EA and they are aware of the problem, but at the time of my call didnt know how it was to be resolved.

So at the minute my rod license have cost me £189.

Applied for mine a few weeks ago…Still waiting. Good job I printed off confirmation sheet. I have since checked with EA and been told as long as I’ve got that with me, plus ID I’m ok.
What I would like to see is a long term Licence being made available….maybe £100 for 5 years? Save a lot of annual hassle.

Hey up Steve i applied for my rod liscense on a tuesday and it arrived by friday no probs!!But like u i did keep a copy of ref no!! A ten yr licence???? U will be eligible for a concession b4 then m8!!LOL Guess who this is!!!

Do mine by direct debit every year i get a reminder saying in 2 weeks x amount will be paid out and an option to cancel never had a problem ~clap

My wife had put my reminder away ? so went to get new licence ,was told that they couldnt do it without the reminder ? so i said i had moved house and reminding the ea was not top of my list,what if i had been moving from a junior to senior ? turns out she just did’nt want to type my name and address , that was a week ago not here yet but the recipt lasts for 1 month?.Lets hope its here by then !

Do it by Direct Debit, then you don’t have to worry!

you would of thought after the messing around that went on last year
they would of sorted the problems out for this year

with more and more people turning to fishing and more money comming through via rod licences you would of thought that they maybe would of brought another card printing thingy bob to print more cards and get them out ~clap ~clap

Purchased mine on-line last Friday, printed off the receipt and carried it with me over the weekend. Licence arrived in the post today….
no problem.

I had the same problem Wednesday night, didnt accept payment from two different cards.

Thursday morning i had both card companies ringing me because they suspected fraudulent activity??

Thank you for your recent correspondence about the problems you had purchasing your rod licence online.

After investigating this problem we have found that between 1st April at 22.53 and 2nd April at 12.18 rod licence applications via the Post Office website failed to process correctly due to a national problem with a banking payment system. We are aware that customers were charged for these applications. A full refund to every customer affected has been organised and this should appear in your bank account shortly.

This also means licence applications during this period were unsuccessful and no licence will be issued. You will need to re-apply or purchase a licence from a Post Office.

If you later attempted another application and an “RL” receipt appeared as the last screen, the application was successful and a licence will be issued.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this has caused and be sure we have worked as quickly as possible to rectify the problem. Any bank charges incurred as a direct result of this incident will be refunded on a case by case basis. Please email the details including a copy of your bank statement with all other transactions and bank account details obscured to [email protected] or send to Environment Agency, PO Box 544, Bradmarsh Business Park, Rotherham, S60 1BY
