When are you going there, if it’s a Wednesday open I will be more than likely there and will help you as much as I can. Failing that John Bennet will help you as much as he can.
Depth wise the big lake is as much as 9ft deep, the little lake is about 4-5ft deep.
The fish go to 20lb plus, you will need proper gear.
I fish 0.21 mainline through to 0.19 hook length with a size 14 Tubertini 175. I use red hydro, some of the guys use orange vespe, don’t use anything much lighter otherwise you will be playing the fish all day as they do pull a bit
I like to start long on the deck (14.5 metres) and start by kindering in and then feed with a catty over the top if I get any indications that the fish are shallow.
I would also have a line short 5-6 metres and fish paste or banded pellet over it. Keep lifing and dropping the pellet
Lastly I would have a line for fishing down the edge.
Baitwise last week I fed 2 bags of pellet between 4 lines and caught best on punched meat
The hot pegs is a good question. Any where with a bit of space is good epsecially with the wind blowing into it.
They are all capable of winning, for me peg 8 which connects the two lakes would be a plum draw.
Have a good one, its a brilliant fishery and John will look after you as long as you treat his fishery with repect
