Dear All
For the first time I can recall there is a petition set up for salmon anglers to unite and register their concerns about the decision to throw out the window a salmon conservation measure which has been observed for many years.
The purpose is to petition Richard Lochhead and the Scottish Government: To reverse the decision by the Salmon Net Fishing Association of Scotland [SNFAS] to resume net fishing in the spring after a 14 year voluntary cessation. The petition can be accessed here http://chn.ge/1bS2Fhn
So far there are close to 14,500 signatures to the online petition which takes virtually seconds to fill in really.
I am doing this as a salmon angler and feel personally that I wish to support this as I think it is entirely reasonable.
As Ian says ‘Ultimately the debate is about the longevity of around 3000 Scottish Jobs and a wonderful industry worth more than £100 million to the Scottish Economy.’
Ian asks if people will sign this petition and ask you to please ask 5 non fishing friends to sign this and for them to pass it on too.
Please give this a little consideration if you have the time and if you feel there is merit then please do what you feel is appropriate.
