So as we go into the New Year 2014 had a few lessons for us all…

Paul already started with his complaint on bait, but lets have our Moan for 1014 and get it all out and move on….maybe 2015 will be better

        For me..?

Tackle suppliers who change good kit for cheaper versions with poorer performance…
Why don’t they just charge a premium and retain good kit albeit at lower volumes?

Comies, carp were a revolution, thank heaven we are waking up, carp have shaken the sport up a bit but at a price….lets get back to our routes, best matches our area are now all on silvers venues.

        Anyone else need a moan?

yes – would really like to see some genuine dual purpose fitted discount kitchens that double up as seatbox/tackle storage systems and are fireproof. 😉

On a more practical note – more longer 1- 1.2mm solid tip wire stem silvers floats that don’t fall apart and need repeated varnishing – hoping the established bespoke commie float makers could solve this.
And more DHP articles on natural lakes/venues where bream not carp dominate.(nothing against commies (love’ em) but don’t live near enough to fish them regularly.

13-14.5 pole limit to encourage more anglers.

Overall 2014 has been pretty good for match-angling, at both domestic(Barnsley) and Croatia apart – our international teams and a happy xmas to the trade and venue owners for giving us pretty much all we could ever need. 🙂

Yes made sure some wall unit tops had space for made up kits, and given ‘er in doors is a bit on the shorter side…they are well safe up there…. but she will be Spring cleaning soon, so thanks for the reminder!

Yes 2014 not so bad on the match front, AT came out well in my books. They seem to have found their voice and are now making an impact for Angling as opposed to those just taking the money…. not strictly true but AT can be a Agent for Change across the board.

Good to see the rivers are on the way back, let’s hope it is sustainable, will the Trent ever return to thoses heady days of last centuary maybe….yes I remember!!!!

Oh well done Browning lifted everyones game over the last 3 years, hope Zebco can support both the brands…

            Moans ….
On-Line shopers, whilst I do look around on-line, I always go back to the local shop, give him the chance, I have to say he has not let me down yet,

We should always remember you cant buy decent maggots or casers on-line, you need the local, Just do it

            More Moans
Customer Service at some shops, not just tackle shops but generally, supemarkets self service…what’s that all about, good morning computer how are you?…….”sorry you have not put that on the scales, not scanned it blah blah….please try again”….stuff you I’m off

And my local shop, owner always in his computer only see the back of his neck now, he’s an ugly git so some benefit.. but a “Hello how are you” would be a nice start.

            more to come?

Roast Cormorant for the homeless . Fill the food banks with this vermin . 😮 Otherwise give them to the bait farm and grow us some big maggots for a change 😉

there is an area in Scotland maybe in the Isles were they do eat them, unfortunately the practice has not come to the mainland…

Say it is awful, tastes like a cross between meat and fish….now there’s a surprise

                MOAN coming

Mink, they are worse than cormorrants in our area, taking 10lb carp on occassion, local area has seen wildlife wiped out on the river bank, bloody do-gooders releasing then many years ago, they just love Waterhen, Swans, Mallards and that stuff aren’t we a clever lot

Send down a few beaver and the odd Otter…… trouble is the balance is upset and cannot recover.

Interesting to listen to Chris Packham on endangered species and the artificial imbalance in the environment.

Can we get maggot off mink?

Your off on one now Time Traveller . Off the predator theme . On stupid payouts !! 5 peg sections where the main list doesn’t get the section . This means anglers with a main lister in only beats 3 . ??? Could even win a section beating no one . If the top 4 was next to each other . What utter crap . When I started ,the top 3 ,
and sections of 25 was about normal . If you went gambling somewhere and didn’t win , they wouldn’t have a whip round for you would they ? Commercial owners started this nonsense with a bums on seats mentality and it stuck . It suits the pools fodder who don’t like to see winners . Happy new year . 😀

Soon be carp in the corner time as well…..50lb there and 2 pegs away nowt?

The commi owners put pegs every 10 yards then double an triple peg it cos the anglers moan

Poor old clubbies then go peg for peg….hey Mr Clubbie you are being conned….even had one commie owner admit that. During the week they allow ex International anglers to picktheir pegs in a 15 pegger then crowd out the guys paying full pop for their once a year visit

Carp may have rescued the sport but Time for a Change in my book

Right on the money brother . That commy owner near me said , The Clubbies like to be pegged close so they could have a chat . Straight faced and with no humour . To justify the pegging on his new ponds that was shite . Some clubs that were green paid up front a year in advance and at the end of their match would then quiz the open anglers . How come you get every other peg ? We won’t be coming back !! 😮

                        Moans

Dare we mention Bait Bans…….right against outright bans but can do limits ok.

Everything in moderation I say, too much and you upset the balance in whatever environment you are in…… local to us does not allow Meat but you can put a gallon of maggots in…. errr what do maggots eat ….also not natural when 20 anglers put it 8 pints a piece 3 days a week….more owners fantasies.

Oh …he pumps the water in an out on the other days ‘cos of toxic build up from all that bait, give yer head a bang matey, more money than sense.

Everything in moderation, 4 maggots/casters, 1 tin meat, small corn, 1/2 a kilo, 2 x bag of HIS pellets…sorted enough for anyone with bait to go home
