TF_Double BlankI’m in need to a smaller / lighter but decent seat box. Getting too old to drag my Milo Tardis around the lake now, it’s been a good box but no one could ever run off with it !!!
Still need plenty of options for winders and bits plus a good seating position and sturdy footplate. Cost not an issue really for good kit.Any suggestions?
I know if I go looking I would finish up with a full on – all singing piece of kit that I don’t really want (tackle tart you see) I’ve got all that now and can’t be lifting it on a cold Winters day.
cheers for your help

TF_Double BlankThanks RR, seems no one sits on a smaller box judging by replies!!
Thought I would use our community to do the field testing. All too often you buy kit and the knobs fall off or footplate is poor or something, don’t need to waste the hard earned, other ‘arf does that already!!!
cheers, DB
Any others please?

AnonymousAnother vote for Match Box. Mainly because they are actually a box that you can put things in instead of a ludicrous frame containing a big empty space. They are very light and mine has lasted me 8 years up to now.

TF_rayroyI have the Matchbox PS4 got it from Benwick Sports many years ago, what I like, is having all the trays that I can add or not, so have a tray for feeders / wagglers and bits / pole bits etc etc.
Also, you can make it as light or as heavy as you wish. It’s like thunderbird 2 !

TF_Team RattlerAnother matchbox endorsement 🙂
I like the old style milo tardis but always worried about the weight/volume of the box so bought a tardis kompact. Downside was the lack of winder space and the fact there was no spare drawer modules on the market to tailor the box to my personal needs. Ended up creating more winder space under the seat but still not enough to cater for the amount of rigs and venues i fished.
Moved to an old style Tournament pro box with two extra double drawer units and while the space was great the box became too heavy and i thought it too big and the drawer units too bulky for the storage it provided.
Settled on a matchbox pyramid with a myriad of extra trays and extras which seems more flexible, lighter overall, easier to transport and to store.
There are two gripes i have though…the inner legs don’t have swivel mudfeet and although advertised on their website when i rang them to order some they wern’t in stock. They said they’d ring me back when they’d established when they would have some. 10 months later i’m still waiting 🙁
Also…every rig stored in the under-seat winder tray suffered from oxidisation of the shot really quickly. Even newly tied rigs that never got used or wet suffered the same fate. The inside of the lid smelt ‘industrial’ so i ripped the foam out. Then i chiselled the glue remnants off. Still did the same. I’ve silicone sealed a plastic sheet inside to try isolate the smell so time will tell with the next lot of rigs i’ve tied. It may be the fumes given off by the hammerite paint finish but it’s an old box now so thought that would have worn off.
Other than that it suits my needs perfectly.
Makes me chuckle when i see folk struggling down the towpaths with oil rigs and the like! -

TF_Double BlankGood endorsement TR and also that you were able to compare with the Milo, it sure is a brick but served me well.
Hopefully they have resolved some of the issues you highlight, and for the “smells” maybe try taking a Yankee Candle with you.
My Milo had similar issues I just ripped out the foam, try putting some silica gel bags in soak up the moisture. A pain I know but it is better than stripping off rigs every couple of weeks.
Cheers
