TF_andynorth2003ParticipantI’ve got a spare No.5 section for sale for a 664 if you end up buying it? Let me know if interested. Brand new condition, so would sell for £60

20/11/2007 at 1:11 pm #67986
ste87has anyone got the special pole pack from sensas, are they different to the original kits, seem to think some one saying they were stronger a while ago. thanks
-
20/11/2007 at 1:29 pm #67987
rob172cupIve decided to go for it!! Do sensas make their own poles?
-
20/11/2007 at 1:50 pm #67988
TF_andynorth2003Participantwaveydavey21, Sorry mate, but cocked up! On the inside of the female joint, theres a sticker which says its from a 644. You are in luck though, as it is just under 150cm long, so would be able to send via Royal Mail, which is cheaper. Still interested?
-
20/11/2007 at 3:39 pm #67989
TF_waveydavey21Andy,
Thanks for the honesty. A new number 5 for a 644 is £50, so I would offer around £27 quid just to take it off your hands. Ta. DG -
20/11/2007 at 3:46 pm #67990
TF_andynorth2003ParticipantI think I’ll take my chances by sticking it on e-bay. If it doesnt sell, then I’ll come back to you. Cheers

23/11/2007 at 8:47 am #67991
rapanuiI bought one after looking at loads of poles and on the advice of Woody. I’m glad I did! It’s strong stiff and well balanced, easily handled a double figure Carp. I use mine more for silvers but wanted the versatility of a stronger pole (plus I am a bit heavy handed). Got an excellent deal through Davies Angling, there was a promo which included more kits and a half ex – check out if it’s still running.
-
23/11/2007 at 11:51 am #67992
Dr.BParticipantMy mate bought one of these, and he brought it round to check against my Superlegion.
The poles were set up at the side of each other, with match tops, and they were identical at 16mtrs.
Then we realised that the SL had elastic in, the sensas did not. Also the 4 and 5 on the sensas dont have the same wall strength (felt more spongey) than the SL 4 and 5.
the SL also had 3 years use on the joints.
My honest opinion is it is not worth the money. -
23/11/2007 at 4:37 pm #67993
BatesoParticipantI have the competition section pack 664 (not sure how it differs from standard pack, call the rep and ask his advice) and i’m the person Dr. B is taliking about above. We had the poles up and there wasnt much between them, Since using the pole i will say i am very very impressed with the pole and providing you can get the special offer package (you get 4 extra kits i think) then i would advise you buy one, if its the original package of 3 kits then i think you’d get better value for money with the super legion. also regarding the comparison the 664 was a little stiffer and lighter but like Dr said it wasnt elasticated. I’ve not had the chance to use it a great deal yet but it is excellent at all lengths and it does feel like it can handle anything thrown at it (only had 1 10+ carp on it so far and it was fine)
-
23/11/2007 at 4:42 pm #67994
BatesoParticipantForgot to say i also tried lots of pole in the same bracket and i bought the sensas without seeing one let alone trying one on the advice of woody and like rapanui said i wouldn’t swap it for anything and i’m really impressed with everything about it, also was a lot less movement on the strike compared to the super legion
-
24/11/2007 at 12:32 pm #67995
Dr.BParticipantAlright Bateso
Less movement on the strike, is a fair comment, but it wasnt elasticated.
My SL is also 3 years old.
The Sensas is also around £600 more expensive.Do you agree with Woody’s comment about it being as good as a pro?
-
24/11/2007 at 1:08 pm #67996
AnonymousHello Dr.b,Woody here..i made that comment based on the fact that i had a go with a friends pro recently and that was the first time i’d ever picked a pro up.I was really surprised with the pro as i expected it to be something out of this world given all the hype it had received but to me it didn’t feel any better than the Sensas.Of course, thats only my opinion.
Out of interest, how much do the Super Leagues sell for ?..If you shop around you could pick up the 664 for around £1400. -
25/11/2007 at 9:25 pm #67997
Dr.BParticipantI am not sure how much the SL is now, when i got it 3 years ago it was £1,250.
has the sensas come down to £1400 already?
I am not saying the SL is a better pole, I just dont want people on here to just go and buy one without checking other poles.
the spongey 4 and 5 would put me off right away as I do tend to break things. -
26/11/2007 at 8:32 am #67998
AnonymousNo Dr.B,its not come down, that has just about been the best price you could get it for since it was introduced if you had a good relationship with your local tackle dealer..Strange you say that about the 4 and 5 sections being spongy cos i havent noticed that on mine, they’re solid as a rock.
-
26/11/2007 at 8:34 am #67999
AnonymousMaybe they’re the competition sections which would appear not to be as strong as the standard match sections !
-
26/11/2007 at 10:09 am #68000
BatesoParticipantDoc, Didnt in my opinion feel as good as pro but only held the pro up for a couple of mins in a shop and that too wasnt elasticated, the superlegion is at a similar price to what it cost when you bought it, i had a feel of the sections and they dont feel as spongy as you make out but they aren’t rock solid either. I wouldnt question the strength of the sections tho and as for being clumsy i doubt there is anyone on this site as clumsy as me and i dont feel nervous at all about breaking it. I will back up my statement by saying that i tried lots of poles in the price range of 1,000 up to the pro and the 664 was among the better ones in my opinion. I would trade it for a tourny but i wouldnt pay the extra 600 to get a tourny unless i came into quite a bit of money.
-
26/11/2007 at 10:21 am #68001
AnonymousMaybe ‘rock’ was a bit of an exageration.
-
26/11/2007 at 10:37 am #68002
BatesoParticipantI know what you mean tho, it must be the competition sections cos the normal 4 i got doesnt give. I dont for one second regret my decision to get the 664 and cheers woody for pointing me in the direction of this pole cos i wouldnt have even thought about it. The best advice is to try and see what suits you, there are always people who are gonna disagree so just try for your self and make your own opinions. I would also say in my own opinion that if you can get the pole for 1400 with the promotionial package then you wont get a better pole for the money!!!!
-
26/11/2007 at 4:40 pm #68003
AnonymousBateso, couldn’t agree more with you there..For that money and package any angler thinking of purchasing a new pole in this price bracket need to realise what they’re actually getting which is why i have tried to promote the 664 the way i have.
As you say, anglers who probably wouldn’t of considered the pole who have then asked for my opinion have gone on to buy one after trying it out.
-
26/11/2007 at 10:23 pm #68004
Dr.BParticipantOK
I am not part of the mutual appreciation society, and dont think the SL is the best pole out there.Bateso, can you honestly say when we had them up together and we felt the 4 and 5 of both poles that the sensas wasnt softer?
All I wanted to tell poeple on here is to make sure you try before you buy.
I was just pointing out my thoughts on the pole.
If you have a chance to put the two poles together then, for me, the SL would be the better pole, purely because the 4 and 5 are softer. There was very little difference in the two poles other than that.
I wouldnt have chosen on price, as when I buy something, I want to have the best I can afford. So I would have set a budget, which both of these poles would have fallen in to.
But some people buy with price in mind, and they should now that they should be looking at other poles as well.
I know I wont change either of your minds, its not the intention, just to make sure that others on here get a balanced view. -
27/11/2007 at 1:36 am #68005
AnonymousFair comment Dr.b
You have hit the nail on the head there though with your statement “i want to have the best i can afford” because so do i..I believe i have purchased the best pole that i could afford for the type of fishing i do with my £1500 budget.
-
27/11/2007 at 11:45 am #68006
rob172cupWell i picked it up on sat and must say from what ive seen im very happy ive just got to fish with it now, and the price i payed i know i wont get a better pole!
-
27/11/2007 at 11:50 am #68007
BatesoParticipantDoc i know your not slating and just trying to give a fair opinion (which you know how high i regard) but i feel i need to defend the criticism thrown at the 664.
I’m not saying the 4/5 isnt slightly softer but its no where near as bad as your making out, to put it into perspective when we looked at the maver 301 or 371 (cant remember which) that was noticably softer than either the 664 + sl. I would go for the 664 over the sl because suits me more (balance wise etc) and it has noticable less movement on the strike. The spares are slightly cheaper too. but i wouldnt buy the 664 if you cant get the promo package because you dont get enough kits with the original package.
When i bought the pole i looked at the preston 2g86 + 91, Shimano beastmaster pro and speedmaster comp, diawa g8, maver 301 (371 cant remember)among others and for me the 664 stood out from the crowd. I did try the tourny pro cos just cos i wanted to and that was by far the best pole i looked at but couldnt afford it.Im not saying go an buy one now i’m just saying if your looking at poles in this range you’d be daft not to look at this pole.

BatesoParticipantNice on rob
-
27/11/2007 at 12:43 pm #68009
Dr.BParticipantright start again
the 4 and 5 are softer,
the sl is cheaper.I am not trying to make out the sensas is really soft, just softer than the SL. If you read back through I havnt said any different to that.
Bateso towards the end of last summer you said you were going to buy a “power” 4 and 5 because you werent comfortable with the 4 and 5 for summer.
People considering this pole should be aware of this, so they can make an informed judgement.I cant comment on any other pole than these two as I have not had them up at the side of each other, Anyone who has will be able to comment, but bateso you havnt. It is impossible to compare poles without them being at the side of each other.
My still impartial view is the two poles are very similar (re badged as both french???)but please check other poles.
I am absolutely certain you are all very happy with your poles, I am not trying to make you all sell and buy something else, but others on here need to be aware of the good and bad points of the pole, if they are considering it. -
27/11/2007 at 1:05 pm #68010
BatesoParticipantDoc i was gonna buy hte power sections purely after having the pole up on your garden and because it did have a little give i thought i would need the power 4/5 but that was before i even fished with it, but having used it i know its not needed, I know the pole isnt perfect but are any? if so why make new ones all the time? one thing i would say which is a down side is the powerlite kits are too long, they aren’t the same size as the kits with the number ones removed. not gonna argue any more or fall out about it. I am entitled to my opinion and so are you. Regarding the other poles i have held them so i can comment! i dint have them side by side but i can remember my thoughts when i tried each of them and that wont change by having them side by side. like i said above I AM NOT TELLING ANYONE THEY MUST BUY THIS POLE but just to take it into consideration if they are wanting something in this price bracket.

TF_Snooty FoxWoody – is that the same Sensas pole that snapped for no apparent reason when I stood behind you a couple of months ago ! PMSL
-
27/11/2007 at 3:38 pm #68015
Dr.BParticipantplease tell me that is a wind up Snooty…..
-
27/11/2007 at 4:47 pm #68016
AnonymousDr.b..it was one of the top kits that broke whilst i was playing a carp,it snapped just above my hand where i was holding it.
Took it back and got a replacement straight away foc.
It must have had a nick in it or something as i havent had any other problems with it.You no what that Snooty Fox is like,he loves a good wind up !
loda,i have just got back home after visiting my local sensas distributor friend, are you talking about the new 774 by any chance ?
Apparently its an upgrade on the 664 and is supposed to be a bit lighter.
Cant give my opinion on that at the moment as i only had the 774 up at 13 metres..it felt nice and stiff just like the 664 did.
When it comes out its gonna be about £1900 for the 16 metre package which will come with 10 top kits, not bad eh. -
27/11/2007 at 5:05 pm #68017
Anonymousyes thats the one woody mate.i have the top of the range one ordered and hopefully it will be here before xmas.as good as anything ive handled at 16metres.
-
27/11/2007 at 5:45 pm #68018
TF_Snooty FoxAccording to Nathan (Nathans of Derby) there is nothing around to compete with a top of the range sensas pole at 13mtrs.
However they are not so good at 14.5 and 16 mtrs cos the continentals don’t use ’em that long as they are not allowed too in matches. -
27/11/2007 at 6:40 pm #68019
AnonymousThat first sentence is probably spot on snooty, but the powermatch range has been designed specifically for the British market so the xtra length has been incorporated to maximise stiffness, strength and balance.
-
27/11/2007 at 10:07 pm #68020
Dr.BParticipantWoody
Do you work for Sensas? -
27/11/2007 at 10:30 pm #68021
AnonymousNo Dr.b,your not even warm.
I sound pretty technical though dont i..LOL.I’m no expert on poles mate but i have owned quite a few top range poles over the years made by different manufacturers..Milo,Preston Lerc,Tri-cast etc…so i know what a good pole is all about.
Regarding the 664,i’m just speaking as i find.
-
27/11/2007 at 10:52 pm #68022
Dr.BParticipantSo how are you getting some sensas spares for Waveydavey21 on post 6 above?
-
27/11/2007 at 11:05 pm #68023
Dr.BParticipantIt wasnt the technical info that made me curious, it was the sensas catologue you quoted word for word, also thwe word market instead of angler.
Are you in marketing for sensas? -
28/11/2007 at 12:58 am #68024
AnonymousDr.b…At no point have i said that i’m getting some Sensas spares for wd21 but if you wish to know what that subject is about i’d be more than happy to discuss it with you privately.
Regarding me quoting the Sensas catalogue word for word, then that is really spooky as i’ve not seen a sensas catalogue for about 2 years and can honestly say that it is pure coincidence.
And lastly,no i’m not in marketing for Sensas nor anyone else for that matter.
By the way,are you a real doctor ???
-
28/11/2007 at 7:57 am #68025
TF_Snooty FoxWoody – pmsl
Dr.B – the 999 should give you a clue to woodys profession ! -
28/11/2007 at 8:18 am #68026
Dr.BParticipantWhat on Earth has me being a doctor got to do with this? I’m not a doctor. never have been, never will be. Thanks for asking though, i am sure that has helped people reading this thread no end.
-
28/11/2007 at 8:25 am #68027
TF_Snooty FoxDr.B – chill.
I think there was a hint of sarcasm in Woody question ‘are you a real doctor’ because you asked him twice about whether he worked for Sensas.

Dr.BParticipant50 up!!
Thanks for the advice woody, I will take it as I have with the advice about the unbreakable 664.Kev34 I am not “a” doctor, I am “the” doctor.
I am just off in the tardis, i need to go back in time and stop myself making a big mistake buying the SL, and make sure i replace it with a 664… -
29/11/2007 at 8:48 am #68031
AnonymousDr.b..you need to realise when people are having a bit of light hearted fun.
Why have you taken to having such a downer on the 664,have you actually fished with one,i doubt it.
And please stop trying to give the impression i have said something that i haven’t..i have never said the 664 was unbreakable. -
