Corndawg moderatorParticipantI’m here…..
Good pole, and if it’s good enough for a 5X world champ, then I am sure it will suffice for us mere mortals… LOL

Peter1984very stiff, well balanced and superb for the price, i would personal buy the eco power tops with it though.

RIGriffThe Antares BX is new 08 and I have used this pole at Felindre fishery catching double figure trout, so the pole has a lot of strength. Section lengths are longer meaning less joins making it lighter, stiffer and stronger than the previous AX and are well fishable shallow at 16m.
There are also generic kits available for this pole.
Top Kit £55
#4 £35
#5 £50
Incorporates the Utra sound sanding which many class as the best finish.
Rated to 20 elastics
Most main dealers should have them in now to view -

rob172cupIs it alot better than the old ax version? Im just asking as ive just seen the ax up for sale at £899 or can i get the bx for less than £1500?
-

RIGriffI have fished with the two side by side and there is a big difference at 16m in balance and stiffness. Plus the AX was seen as being that strong, the BX will perform on big fish commercials I doubt you will get the BX for much less than £1500. The other point is the spare generic kits, if you are buying extra kits the price of AX spares are a lot higher so it could end up costs more or less the same.

TF_stevieskinRIGriff, do you know if the generic kits will fit any other Shimano poles like the original Aspire Comp 16m ??
-

RIGriffNo they wont but there is the possibility of generic Aspire kits in the near future.
They will fit the Aspire AX, NEW Aspire Pro AX and the now Discontinued Aspire Pro. Im not 100% on the Comp but pretty sure they wont
