TF_RyanHi i thinking of giving this line a try and was wondering what the breaking strains are, i have found the diameters and have found they have alot of choice which is good. And it is quite expensive compared to others, but is cheaper in the larger spools, is it worth buying the larger sizes?
Also are the diameters and breaking strain accurate as i know alot of lines nowadays are way out. Does it have good memory? And stuff like knot strength and wether kinks easily, etc etc.
Any help much appreciated,
Thanks Ryan.

TF_carpmagicParticipantI tend to carry the small 50m spools in my box although for rig making at home i use the 300m spools. I have been using silk shock for over 5 years now and have never had a problem. I use it in sizes ranging from 0.10 to 0.25 in the main although i have used it also in lighter breaking strains on occasion without any issues.

TF_Smedswitched to this from preston power line
noticed the diameters seem to be finer but ive heard powerline is and has allways been wrong??
anyway i get on fine with it no probs at all… -

TF_RyanI heard that the dia stated on powerline is the diameter at which it breaks. So basically say a 0.13 snaps at say 0.11 due to stretch. Thats what i heard anyway, may not be right.

TF_dirkdiggleri’m just in the process of swapping over from powerline to antares.
mainly due to the powerline snapping for no real reason occasionally when using my sensas loop tyer.
i’m fishing with the antares for the first time tomorrow and i have to say i’m a little concerned with how much thinner diameter the antares is than powerline.
i hope i’m not back on here tomorow night telling tale of how many i’ve lost ~think -

TF_Radi started using antares silk shock last year only for hook lengths.ive tested the diameter with my calipers and it was bang on.not done a strength test but i havent had it snap on me yet.it seems expensive for only 50m spools but its the same as everything else in fishing if you want quality you got to pay for it.i wouldnt use anything else for hooklengths now.

TF_C.A.T.C.H.Participantmp.milo,
Mate been thinking about using Silk Shock .22 on a pellet waggler line but Im a little concerned it may be the wrong line for the job.
Have you any comments on using the line under this style of fishing as you seem to use it for a number of methods. Robustness, durability etc.Thanks.

TF_mp.miloI normally use .18 for fish up to 6-8lb and .20 for bigger fish or on a bagging water on the pellet wag.
I use .22 on the bagging wag and method hooklengths.I havent had any issues with durability or strength to be honest.
On the bagging wag and splasher wag i am always clipped up so any problems would show then. -

TF_howsmichaJust a quick point to Milo. What size hooks do you use to accomodate 0.22 line which needs to go twice through the eye with a knotless knot?. Its something i have problems with . Thanks in advance for your reply.
