the 86xl is predominantly out and out silver fish pole, fireblood and 76xl will do all round. Poss fireblood a bit stronger.
All are very nicely balenced and stiff.
Spares packages are great on both, shimano have same kits to do it all where as the sensas have mixture.

the closed length of the sensas is around 2mtr due to the longer sections so just make sure it’ll go in ya vehicle first if u go down that route.

I’m going to have to disagree on the sensas’s. Can’t comment on the fireblood, not seen one.

I’ve got mates who fish for sensas backed teams, and the 86xl is awesome by all accounts. it will happily handle carp they tell me, most use the match kits minus the one for carping anyway. It’s not an out and out bagging pole though.

I handled a 76 xl on thursday. At 13m is was stiff as a poker, 15m still fishable, put the last section on and it was a breast. The droop came, and boy was it heavy. I’m not used to the length though so this is just my opinion. Past the 13m section it was two generic extentions too, whether this had a bearing on its balance I dunno.

The sections are long too, so you’ll have to use the holdall it comes in and carry another for any rods you want. It was full with the std spares package too, so any more top kits might have to go in a seperate holdall too. Good spaes package with 4 match 4’s and 4 match 3’s, plus the one in the pole. Sensas spares are great value too. If they did a 13m or 15m version of the 76 xl I would have been tempted.

The Fireblood well, a lot of rumors about this pole, have been told from reliable source the pole is brittle,a certain sponsered angler broke the same section 4 times in the same day while field testing it. Will have to wait and see how it performs when joe public buys it.

Thanks for the replys. Did not realise that the sensas poles were that long when packed away! I have got a mitsubishi warrior and struggle to get standard length rod holdalls in. Not great news on the shimano either~think.
I use a Daiwa G8 at the moment which i cannot fault, perhaps i should stick with daiwa after all!

Not heard a bad word about the g8, both the guys in my localtackle shop use them. If you fancy a new pole, you can always update to the g20. It comes in 3 options….16m package with match and power tops, 13m package with 2 spare top 4’s (or could be top 5’s), or 16m pole only.

If I were to go for a sensas pole, personally I would look at the 774 or 764. Or, if you can track one down second hand, a 3774 or 3674.

Spot on i have the 3674 and honestly can not fault it in any way never broke a section on a fish.
the only prob i can see with the new sensas poles is the shear length of the sections as already said, but i would seriously have a look at the series 4 poles, tops are reasonably priced and preston kits fit with a small bit of trimming and browning kits fit straight on, all sections are interchangeable throughout the whole series 4 range, example 744 no 6 will fit 3674 no 6,the new xl range dont from no 4 down.

                    hope this helps.

Carpa, Alan scotthorne is using the fireblood, do you really think he would be using it if it was brittle and he was breaking sections all the time? No i dont think so either. Alan is a perfectionist and as a result doesnt stand for anything which is sub standard in anyway.

I have not looked at the 774 etc as i have been told that they are not that strong. How true this is i dont know.

As regards to Shimano I have always been impressed with the quality of everything they make. The only thing that put me off buying another one was the price of the sections if i suffered breakages.[think it was the aspire ax i looked at] Is this still the case with the new range???

The prices on spares for the new range are a lot more competitive than in the past. With the three new poles you also have the availability of generic spares.

Have you a rough idea of price for the generic top kits and number 4s steve?
