Hi Pete. AAA shot is definitely better. It is bigger so has a bigger slot to put your line in. How are you supposed to get your line into some of the small ones like no6 ?
Also you can get some that are green in colour so the fish think they are bits of weed or something.

I don’t think so. You get a lot of bites on the drop. I fished a waggler float the other day and put on 3 or 4 AAA so I could cast far enough and every time I cast in, the float settled slowly and then went straight under. Not sure what was feeding though cos I missed most bites.

Hi little pete,got to say that i think that some of the replies were plain wrong.I started by buying only one tub of shot at a time and bought AAA to start with then someone suggested that i needed some smaller ones as well. Having bought a tub of AAAs and finding only 10 or so in it you can imagine how delighted i was to find that a tub of BBs costing exactly the same contained almost twice as many!fantastic value and i am now saving up for some number 4s. Having said that there are advantages and disadvantages with more/less shot.If you are a clumsy sod and spill your shot then when you spill half your AAAs you only have 5 left,but when you spill BBs you still have 10 of them.The reverse of that of course is that if you are a really clumsy sod and spill them all,there will be less of the AAAs to pick up. One final word of warning dont buy one of those so called “multi dispensers” as i found that every time i went to take out a shot the numbers/letters changed when i tried to open it!far too complicated for me although my brother has suggested holding the upper part and twisting the bottom to see if that solves this problem.Hope this helps and tight lines

Thank you DAT. I am qwyte clumsy and your point about getting more BBs for the same money to help this matter is brilliant.

I am going to save up for some number 8s becoz my mate told me you get so many that you hardly ever need to by anotehr shot.

I think overal that BBs are better than AAAs

have you tried the 2ssg great big things but you only get 4, work well for fishing on the drop shirt button ~shh
