I’m in a dilemma! I’m thinking of fishing a qualifier at Evesham but I can’t fish the match on the bank holiday weekend (due to my brothers wedding). Would it be unfair or unethical for me to fish the match?

I love to fish the avon around evesham and am trying to get into match fishing, but it’s very difficult to fish matches on the river midweek. The only matches midweek seem to be qualifiers.

I was thinking of waiting till just before the draw, before getting my ticket, that way I won’t be denying someone else the chance to fish the final.

With the strong opinions regarding the fisho’ qualifiers I wanted to see what everyone here thought.

I can’t see anyone having a problem with that as aside from the qualifying places they are just quality open matches with some top anglers competing. Half of the competitors have already qualified or are invited!

You might struggle for a ticket though as next weekends are the last 2 weekend qualifying matches.

from what you are saying ,i would give the match a miss
BUT i would go along and see if you can see any better known anglers, like dave harrell who should be on it ,and have a watch as long as you dont get to close they wont mind ,
you will learn more by doing this than trying to compeat with them,
            so save your money and
            look’n’learn.

              Just fish it!

No one would hold a gun to your head to make you fish the final!

              lol

They are open matches with the winners being invited to fish the final. Many already qualified anglers continue to fish the matches anyway. It is NOT like Fish’O’Mania where the matches are qualifiers, NOT opens, and the winners of those WOULD be expected to fish the final.

Thanks for your opinions guys you’ve put my mind at rest. Think I’ll give it a go. Fished a qualifier last year and came second in my section behind Rob Middleton (although they’re only six peg sections).

Hopefully I can go one better this year win my section.

                  Wish me luck!
