I had an idea quite a while back, after using the original milo pulla’s i realised the elastic had to be changed quite often when the crows foot wore the elastic and had to be replaced, thus makin the elastic shorter and in need of a change , instead of having just one hole drilled, would it not be better to have two an inch appart, then you could use a conventional bung and release a bit of laccy when you change the connector of choice, or would this weaken my no 3’s.?

This is how the new Browning Pulla’s are done. It looks really good but will add more weight to the top kit.

I use side pullas on most of my top kits however I have had two break where the wrap is due to over-zealous playing of carp when at the net.

The idea makes sense but I would be weary of having a weak spot with two holes drilled ~think

Might give it a miss then, it was only to try and save a few quid on new laccy, 20 quid to get them done, then the risk of snapping would prob cost more in the long run. Also while on the subject, does the extra weight off a pulla bung really make that much of a difference? i cant see that it would be as much of a problem as some of these awfully, badly, designed kinder cups that fit directly on the tip!!

When you consider how much you cut your top sets back (if neeeded) nowadays or completely remove the No1 section the weight of a 2″ wrap and a bush is minimal, I certainly wouldn’t let that bother me as i think the balance is merely affected, if your worried about the poles performance stick a short 4 on ~think

Billy the squid, I’ve only just tried using this pull bung mullarky (sunday was the first time I’ve used said top-kit) and I have to say that on my five and a half year old superlegion I couldn’t tell the difference between a top with a pull bung over one with a normal bung at 16m. Granted I was using a short 4!

I’d imagine the difference on any half decent pole between using a pull bung over a side hole will be hardly noticeable, if at all!

The milo pulla kits that i have seen have quite a big side pulla hole so would it be worth bringing the elastic out of the side pulla hole then pulling the elastic through a bead before passing the elastic back down through the pulla hole down to a winder bung. That way you could potentially tension the elastic how you like, store extra elastic within the top kit and still have the use of the pulla, Might add too much weight though ??

sorry i really don’t see the point in drilling any holes in your pole~think
you are causing a weakness in the pole and adding the weight and cost of a wrap plus 2x internal bushes.
also there is the thought of when you come to upgrade/sell your pole some people me included would’nt buy it of you.
i’ve been using the preston pulla bungs since they came out with no problem at all, they weigh as much as an angels wing and imo are far lighter than a stora bung with a yard of elastic wrapped round it.
holes in topkits are a worthless invention in my book.
