Drennan Ultralite, Finesse or an acolyte if your careful on the strike when using 0.8 .

              Depends on your budget.
Mach 3 Lite very good (I have had one) at the budget end up to a Tricast Allerton Premier (I have one now) at the top end.
In truth, there’s loads and loads you could choose from – really does depend on the cash you want to spend.

Just another angle have a look at top end float rod from the early ninetys from Diawa T.pickering (conni), shimano (ultegra response, the blue one) or Normarks 2000 series. These were all build before the carp plague took off. Ask around the more mature tackle tarts and you may pick up a bargin.

A angleing buddy called around last night and he had read what I had posted on here and he told me about the rod he uses for his silver outings.

He had his gear in the van so he brought the rod out and I was inpressed with the weight and action .

The rod is a -13ft- Shakespheare – ZEN match, model no-1800-390 and its got a hollow carbon tip !

So it sounds techy to and a thin profile to.

May be looking for one soon. 🙂

I’ve been using the silstar diaflex 13 & 14ft splice tip float rods fantastic versatile tools the 14ft is a brilliant all rounder use it on still and running water. Had these since mid 80’s when they first come out and not found anything to replace them.

The 13ft is a fantastic silvers float rod used it with 0.05mm hooklengths.

I liked these that much that i also bought the hollow tips and two diaflex 10ft wands.

I have just the rod for you to try. It’s the Daiwa Connoisseur Whisker Tom Pickering (WTP) the rod that he used to win the world championship in Bulgaria in 1989. I believe the rod was designed for that competition where they were using 12oz hook lenghs to catch carp! The rod boasts that is 1mm at the tip to cope with the light lines and more backbone in the middle to handle the carp.

I havent used it for a while, but back in the day it was my pride and joy. I’ll drop one round for you.
