Match Report
Members of the Soldiers & Sailors (Sawley) Angling Club fished the final round of their 2015 Spring “Bag Up” League on Sunday at the Robinwood Fishery on Lake Two.
For a change the weather was actually pleasant – dry, warm and with a light breeze – and although some of the 20 competitors struggled for bites generally catches were quite good.
Paul Marriott (peg 1) took top honours with 37-00 of carp. Paul fished long pole to the corner of the lake with meat to take his fish. Although the runner up Dave Kent (peg 27) also fished meat, Dave caught his fish in the margins, mainly in the latter stages, to put 35-04 on the scales.
There was a tie for third place between Rob Pembridge (peg 24) and Len Barker (peg 9), both with 26-08, closely followed by Les “Bow” Overmass (peg 11) with 26-00, Dave Cotterill filling sixth spot with 24-04 from peg 31.
Best fish of the day was a magnificent carp of 15-02 taken by Mick Lager on “chopped worm”.
In the final (5 team) League placing there was a tie between team A (Ant White, Rob Pembridge, Neil Stevenson, A N Other) and Team E (Dave Cotterill, Steve Talbot, Dave Kent, Bow Overmass), each with 22 points.
Individually Keith White was League Champion with 24 points, Dave Cotterill taking the runner up spot with 23 points.
