TF_DATOh.really enjoyed last two years, good fishing met some nice lads from all sites. Is it political, can it be rescued?
-
17/05/2010 at 9:08 pm #105051
Anonymousdon’t think its political, just think vince who ran it has just called a day on it..shame as like you and others it was a good day out..always good for bragging rights and banter…real shame.
Could it be rescued.. ? if some one wants to take it on then yes..~think -

TF_herbiewould have been nice if vince told us he was calling it a day~think asked enough questions on other sites~think too late now ~sick ~sick ~sick and i can only imagine it was political or just downright toys out of pram time, either way its crap.

19/05/2010 at 7:15 am #105190
Anonymousperhaps herb…but like i wrote i don’t think its entirely over…perhaps for this year, theres enough interest out there, the only trouble is now is getting hold of a venue at short notice that will accommodate upto 60 anglers…its to big for me to run, i’ll be well out of my depth..but for someone who has run big events like this before it would be a doddle for them…~think

TF_DATNo promises but a lad who is a member on here, but not a poster has said he might run it.Now he lives local to me in Ashford, kent and he would like to keep it local to himself so thinking of chequer tree.
How many teams, how many anglers per team? -
19/05/2010 at 8:48 am #105200

TF_DATOK total fishing, maggot drowners, talk angling, angling forum and mfs?Put me right if i missed anyone please. would someone please post a thread on the other sites as this is only site that i am a member of or if people are willing to give this match a go lets get it moving.Any chance of making this a sticky? sat 7th august is free at monks,8quid a peg, pools can be friendly like last year.
Stick my own name down and steve homewood(the lad who said he will run it,any one else fancy giving it a go.
by the way we dont expect any places in the team if a neutral wants to draw names out of a hatfine by us and if chris(76 trombones)wants to captain again,no problem.just want to keep a good match going -

19/05/2010 at 5:33 pm #105263
TF_DATNot booked anything yet,but all lakes are available on 7th aug so if we can get something sorted pretty quickly then me and steve will book it.looks like 40 pegs then,if we can get a team together ourselves. As i said me + steve =2 anyone else?????
Thanks for the links Bag Up. -
19/05/2010 at 6:11 pm #105270
TF_nick_the_2ndIf you are booking it for 40 anglers then use lake 4 and 2, this gives you the best part of 70 pegs to spread everybody out on.
If you cram 40 blokes on lake 2 it will fish poor!

Vince GHi Guys,
Sorry I hadn’t got round to organising the Southern Intersite for 2010. It hasn’t been a great year so far with a few problems to deal with including a bout of pneumonia and now the prospect of redundancy.
I’m sure there will be interest in the match however the date isn’t good for MD’s as it clashes with a match series that many of the Southern team fish.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
I’ll happily run the 2011 match if requested to do so.

TF_DATHi Vince give me/us a date thats good and lets have a look at whats available, not trying to take over your game.Just as i said before really enjoyed last 2 years and want to keep it going anyone else interested.
-
19/05/2010 at 10:34 pm #105327
TF_BAG UPParticipantIf you can’t get Monks for a new date then you may want to look at another venue in the area, Hartleylands farm is an option ~think
-
19/05/2010 at 10:38 pm #105328
TF_DATThanks again Bag Up,only looked at Monks cos last two have been there.Like hartley myself was just worried about its location for people travelling.
-
19/05/2010 at 10:55 pm #105329
TF_BAG UPParticipantMonks and HLF are within a short distance of each other, so not much difference between them mate ~think and you will have a better days fishing at HLF then Monks ~clap
-
19/05/2010 at 11:51 pm #105330
Vince GDAT,
I’m more than happy for you to run the 2010 event.
HLF is a great venue with some excellent fishing. and will probably be a lot fairer, Monks can be a bit peggy.
I’ll even turn out for the MD’s if they want me.

TF_DATOK, not giving up on this just yet still looking for dates that are suitable/unsuitable.Not able to reply to anything for 2-3 days as i am up in London and not taking laptop with me,sorry if this causes any problems but will try and pick up the baton when i get back.
-
29/05/2010 at 8:37 am #106018
TF_DATOK,think i will have to give up on this. Not heard anything from other sites so suppose its dead in the water, pity as i said before really enjoyed meeting up with the lads from this site and other sites.
-
01/06/2010 at 1:40 pm #106264
TF_herbiebook a date for next year and i will get a T/F team there. just avoid fisho dates and maver pairs. late august is good.
-
01/06/2010 at 7:57 pm #106306
TF_DATThink Vince has said that he will run it again next year.
-
01/06/2010 at 8:53 pm #106322
TF_herbieand didnt vince say that last year~think no excuses this year was a balls up at our expense, dispite trying our nuts off we could get no response from anyone. we loved our weekend in maidstone and did a 300 mile round trip for the pleasure, not to mention the phone calls arranging a team only to have 12 months of complete silence untill its too late. so forgive me for wanting someone else to book the venue.
-
01/06/2010 at 9:27 pm #106332
TF_DATHonestly didnt know that vince had said he was running this years event, only done last 2 years(im the loud mouthed northerner if we have met)but as said previous really enjoyed the day.If it needs organizing for hartley/monks or anywhere this end then no problem me and Steve can do it.Again though dont want to step on any ones toes. Just a thought what about a southern intersite individual for this year!! anyone?????
-
04/06/2010 at 6:55 am #106528
TF_justin caseThe southern has been a great event shame its kinda died
I have seen people try to resurect this on so many forums but the enthusiasm just dies out after a week of discussing it.
HLF is a great alternative to Monk but unless somebody has the balls to pick a date and book it, its not happening
by the way if someone sorts it Im sure we could get a team together from MFS -
04/06/2010 at 8:57 am #106538
Big-FloatParticipantIs there no way that this can be done this year in some sort of format? I am running the Northern Intersite at The Oaks and it was a great success last year as we allowed it to be teams of up to 10 anglers with 6 best results to count which made it easier for people to enter a team. We also allowed the bigger forums to send more than 1 team meaning everyone who wanted to fish got to come along.
I’m sure Talk Angling would send a team.
-
04/06/2010 at 9:14 am #106540
TF_justin caseAlright Si
wasnt Brian running a meeting for all those concerned ?
-
04/06/2010 at 10:10 pm #106600
TF_DATDont want to book a venue and have no one turn up or end up with say 40 pegs booked and only 20 turning out and having them to stump up double money.
I need 4 captains to declare an interest to start this ball rolling.Me and steve are very flexible on dates and as i said before will take my chance with everyone else on a random draw for a place in the final team.
also dates when most are available please. -
05/06/2010 at 6:19 pm #106641
TF_justin caseOK
MFS will scrape a team together Im sure of that
so now you need 3 more -
05/06/2010 at 7:35 pm #106645
TF_DATNeed 2 more captains, maggot drowners and talk angling, could even push this into september if that is easier for everyone.Come on lads lets keep this alive.
-
05/06/2010 at 10:08 pm #106661
Anonymousyou could be pushing it abit for this year..should of been done earlier as most people have already have sorted out there diary’s and wot nots…good luck and hope you pull this off.
-
05/06/2010 at 10:31 pm #106663
TF_justin caseMFS will definatly put a team forward for this we just need dates sooner rather than later
-
06/06/2010 at 5:29 am #106667

Vince GHerbie,
Having not been particularly well and also having to fight to keep my job rather unsurprisingly I haven’t exactly had time to sit and look through the internet. So you can imagine how I felt when I came across your post regarding the Southern Intersite.
For the record at last years event I offered to run the 2010 event if everyone was happy. Well clearly a number were not as it was made quite clear to me on the day and afterwards that there was a lot of bad feeling that I had not allowed sites to enter more than one team and that it was too far to travel for many of the anglers. It was suggested that the match be further north, Surrey, Berkshire etc so I said at the time it would be better for someone else to run the event that knew venues around those areas.
Had anyone bothered to actually make contact with me through e/mail or through MD’s (where most who fish the match know I regularly post) rather than, as I suspect, just posting on TF then I would have done everything I could have done to organise the 2010 match despite having to battle through pneumonia and spending the rest of my time trying to save my job,(under threat because of redundancy) so that I could continue to support my family.
It seems from what you’ve posted that you were really keen for the match to go ahead so why, if you couldn’t make contact with me, didn’t you offer to run the match? Perhaps then the 2010 Southern Intersite would be running. Sorry but to just blame me for the fact the match isn’t running is a bit rich, I’m not the only angler capable of running the match…..or am I.
I’m sure by now you’ve probably gathered I’m pretty annoyed by what you posted and would hope for an apology, however I won’t hold my breath. Btw, just for the record I’m still fighting to keep my job so if I don’t reply immediately I might just be a bit busy trying to secure my childrens future.
