rollingHas anyone fished stafford latley and found it hard fishing.fished pines last week and found it tough….
Dose anyone think that bait limits and no throwing bait in after a session would help everyones all round fishing… -

TF_DecaffFished it the week running up to Fisho & it became more difficult as the week wore on,but i put that down to the weather.Spent most of my time on Tanners & had some good draws,so always seemed to be on fish.A lot of the bites i had during the week were real wrap rounds, but i did have spells of what appeared to be fish just mouthing the bait, just very gentle little indications, winding in to them however resulted in good fish being on!
Also found that during quiet spells, switching to corn on the pole line always resulted in carp after a few silvers.
Perhaps the pressure it has seen lately coupled with the changeable weather is making it more difficult? -

TF_MARKHLDASOn the contary, I was on the Fest last week and thought the weights were good on Pines.
The one problem now is the head of carp, preferred it when it was all Silvers and odd rougue Carp. The day I fished it each section (of 7) had at least 3 weights in excess of 50lbs, the lake being won with 70lbs plus.
Also drew Joesphs on the day 200lb plus won the lake and I had 52lbs of silvers (would have been more If i had done it right) I thought Josephs was meant to be a grave yard . ~think

TF_Steve LockettAgree with Decaff that recent pressure may be taking it’s toll. But what is fishing hard? Only getting weights of 50lb on Pines? Only doing 75lb on Tanners?
If that is hard fishing, roll on the bagging days…Decaff, you will get rippers from smaller fish on Tanners on the bomb. The bigger ones pick up the pellet and sit there shaking their heads to drop the hook out. You often see a small pull followed by rattling, lift and it’s fish on!

TF_DecaffTotally agree Steve, not exactly scratching for a few bits is it.
The first time i’ve bever been to SM so not wise to the takes etc. Also the first time i had used the Guru QM1’S,so thought it might have something to do with them & the length of hair i was using.Must say well impressed with the hooks, didn’t lose a fish of the hook all week, also what a fishery, the lodges are superb, the environment fantastic & Andy a top bloke.Roll on next year. -

rollingHi steve how do you go about fishing pines.

TF_Steve LockettEither: ball it in at 6m with groundbait, micros and corn to fish expanders, corn or worm over the top for skimmers, tench and crucians, or feed dampened micros to an island or overgrown margin to fish corn for carp.
Better pegs are 10, 11, 12 and 13 for 6m line. Peg 1, 13 and 28 for carp. You should catch from all round though, it is very good fishing. -

rollingSteve i used to go on pines quite a bit 2-3 years back loved them tench, one of the reasons i stopped going is because of the amount of fizing i used to get, Once i remember just lobing in a handfull of pellet and sure enough th dreaded fiz.i thought f…. this and stopped going up…Following your tips though im going to have another try. Thanks for the peg tips and info might see ya up there sometime.

TF_Steve LockettNo problem rolling. If you get loads of fizzing, there are loads of fish in front of you! Try fishing with a proper bulk shotted rig, something around 1-1.5g with the bulk set 6″ from the hook and a No8 dropper 2″ from the hook. Plumb up so the dropper is just off bottom. You will need to do that very carefully to get it only 1/4″ off bottom. I use a clip on plummet over the dropper and get the float tip just under water with the plummet on the deck. Still takes a bit of fine tuning once you start fishing, but well worth taking that time.
Fish an expander, grain of corn or a whole worm and look for lift bites mainly or proper unders and you will get less trouble.
You should get big skimmers, tench and crucians in nets to at least 30lb, if not closer to 100lb. -
