I’ve a couple of pain in the backside pole sections that stick when wet, my no 7 welds to my no 8 in the rain the joints are well worn I can’t understand it its getting worse as the pole gets older, will cancel waxing help this or is scandal wax aimed at new poles cheers ?

Pole sections can still stick in the wet regardless of wether they are worn or brand new.it is the vaccum created that causes them to stick, not section wear when wet.but worn joints can also still stick as they are pushed further into the next section as they wear down, than they used to do.candle wax does work, but you can also buy joint build solution as well.

Candle wax does help, only apply it in stripes up the male joint, PTFE spray does a better job and it dries white so you can see if the sections are working loose Sensas make it.

              Go with PTFE spray.

Make a neat job of it with some masking tape.

Ant that stuff your on about wont dry the Sensas spray dries white, its expensive but it’ll last for ages, one of the pole repairers put me onto it.

I use superglue. Put a couple of lines of it on the section and use your finger to rub it all around. Best use a rubber glove or something to save you walking around with a pole section stuck to your finger.

Thanks, I coat floats with liquid super glue its brilliant, I could see it working on pole sections there no much margin for errors though make a pigs ear of that and you’d be cursing 😮 😮

The worst thing I ever did was follow advice to use candle wax on pole joints. I was sat fishing less than a week after applying it to the male ends of the sections of my pole when I heard this ‘crack’ noise lifting into a fish. I tried testing the sections, but couldn’t replicate the noise. I went in again, caught another fish and the same noise repeated.

A little while later, I was fishing shorter and noticed that the noise had gone. I put the ‘rogue’ section back on and lo, the noise came back. By this time, I was convinced the section had a split, so I looked inside (holding it up to the light) and there was nothing. The only thing that had changed was the candle wax, so I carefully cleaned it off the male end & out of the female end of the next one up. What came out of the female end had grit embedded in it, which no doubt caused the noise as it moved. Once cleaned – no noise and since the Trev Jeans nose cones got put on – no need for candle wax either.

hope the sensas PTFE is better than the stuff from motor parts suppliers – as this wears off by the end of a session. Consequently i still use candle wax – oddly i swapped an untreated no.5 onto one pole and within 2 months that no.5 and no.4 had become welded.
despite leaving and trying all the ‘rolling’ methods indoors later – the five snapped where the joint had become stuck and currently the remaining male still stuck up the female end of the otherwise intact no.4.

So candle wax deffo. works and as importantly lasts – though i will take a gander at the sensas stuff

Sensas PTFE spray every time. As recommended by Scott at Esselle, & he should know!!
                            Regards Peter.

I will try PTFE spray again I’ve used it before and echo wightanglers comments it wears off very quickly, thanks to all who took the time to respond to this thread.

If you’ve used the correct stuff it doesn’t wear of quickly especially on the big sections which is what you want it for ,my pole has been done for the last 3 months with no signs of wear, I think folk are getting confused and thinking the Sensas stuff is a lube, its not it dries hard and puts a coating on the male sections. It may wear off a bit on a sections that are under constant use ie.4th & 5th but for the big sections it’ll last for ages.

One I used was garbolino pole joint protected it dries white, very powdery looks like I’ve sprayed right guard on the sections and it rubs straight off, I will try sensas cheers
