        Wednesday – St Patricks Day – M1
We had a good turnout for a mid week match of 16 today and it was hoped that there would be a few fish caught. Prospects looked goo as pleasure anglers on pegs 16 and 17 were catching fish on the pole as we set up. As usual though for matches as soon as the keepnets went in the fish appeared to stop feeding to a large extent! The weather conditions were brilliant for fishing in mid March. Water temperature was 8C which was up on Sundays level of 5.2C. We had Medium-level cloud a temp of 13.6°C SW winds of 14mph visibility was 25km and the barometer 1020 hPa, and falling.

In the end it was quite a hard match all round with end pegs once again having the upper hand it seemed.

1st Peter Binks, Walton on Naze on Peg 31 again! Peter had some skimmers early on and later added a couple of tench and a carp all on pellet to weigh a total of 35lb 9oz
2nd Alex Reynolds, Browning Wickford, on end peg 9 a bream and a skimmer for 6lb 9oz and 5 small carp for a total of 29lb 7oz
3rd Mark Airey, end peg 24 had carp and lost one estimated to be double figures on maggot for a weight of 26lb 12oz
4th Scott Rispin, Hull & District, fished for carp for the first and last hours without success on peg 30. For the middle 3 hours of the match he fished for silvers and ended up ruing the wasted 2 hours at either end of the match but with a very healthy bag of roach and skimmers for a weight of 23lb 0oz.
5th Frank Ling, Woodbridge AC, fished the margins on peg 5 with paste, corn and pellet struggling for the first 4 hours of the match then in the last hour he managed to hook 3 of the fish that had been giving him tiny indications to weigh 16lb 6oz
6th Darren Clarke, Suffolk Water Park/Bait-Tech, end peg 2, had some small tench and 2 small carp mainly on the pole for 14lb 2oz

Don’t forget the £1,000 qualifier has now been fixed as 11th April if you have qualified. If not, there is at least 1 place left as everyone who weighed in today has already qualified so an ounce would have got you in. When that place goes, we will be taking names for the next one to be held later in the year.

Silver Fish Match on Canal – 20/3/10
We had a good match today on the canal with 16 anglers taking part and some pretty good weights. Everyone had a few bites. The daytime Max was 13.6C with the wind SSW and averaging 19 mph with occasional gusts to 31mph visibility was 35 km and the air pressure 1002 hPa and falling. Water Temp was 8.7 and overnight low was 11C the warmest of the year so far.

1st and still drawing well even though he is now domiciled in Malta, Mick Godfrey on end peg 20. He had some skimmers, 6 small tench and some roach on caster and pellet for 18lb 12oz
2nd Andy Moss, Diawa Angling Direct, had a tench but mostly roach and rudd on peg 13 for a weight of 14lb 12oz. Andy qualifies for the final on 11th April.
        3rd John Dale, Suffolk Water Park/Bait-Tech on peg 19 for 12lb 0oz
4th Peter Binks, Walton on Naze, on peg 16 with mostly roach and rudd for 11lb 14oz
5th Barry Burlton, had a larger tench and some skimmers to go with his roach and rudd for 11lb 8oz on peg 2
        6th Bob Wessels, Suffolk Water Park/Bait-Tech on peg 10 with 10lb 8oz

        Sunday 21st March, M1
Minimum overnight temperature was 5°C with a daytime Max of 12.4°C wind swung form WNW through W and SW and grew in strength from 3mph at 12 noon to 11mph by the end of the match. Visibility was 45km and the air pressure was 1018 hPa, and rising.

We had a very interesting match with fish spread fairly well over the pegs. The fish were showing on the surface as we tackled up and fish were rising all over the lake. The first time that this has happened this year in a match.

        26 anglers fished
1st Aaron Coleman, SWP/Bait-Tech, drew peg 31 and fished a bomb and bread from the start and landed 7 quality carp for perhaps 35lb in the first hour whilst others were struggling to catch. He went on to catch another 4 carp including one down the edge on the pole and 7lb 8oz of silvers for a total weight of 54lb 10oz
        2nd Ian Garner, Haverhill Ang
