Hi all, we fished our first round today (we being Yanglers, formely YMA).

We beat Vicker St & Grattan AC in a 3 wayer at Langwith Lakes York.

Anyone else fished the first round yet?

MFS NE were away against Calder Anglers on the Hebble & Calder navigational canal at Brighouse. In the match 16 fished, there were 14 blanks and I won with a single roach for 6.5oz and my mate Alan had 16 plips for 1oz!

I could easily have being with you mike, buddy & paste, i had 2 bites in the 1st two put ins & somehow managed to steer a couple of tench through the ice.~clap
Those were the only two bites in the section~sick

Why do clubs keep picking these totally crap venues!!?? Serves them right when they get knocked out!

It’s supposed to be a fISHING competition, not a lucky draw to see whoo draws the peg with a fish in it!

We fished our match yesterday and scraped through. We should have been fishing against Burscough Angling Supplies and Hindley Green Socials but Hindley didnt show up ~think ~think

We had to move the match on the Lanky to another stretch after the first choice suffered from an oil spillage after some local scrotes stole and burnt a canal boat and it emptied its diesel into the canal. We had been catching 2lb on punch or joker in practise up till Thursday but come the day the stretch seemed fishless with 7 of the 16 anglers blanking and a staggering 0-1-8 winning the match.

A poor day but the result is all.

Unfortunately our B team got pipped today so no dream tie for our club in round 2.

I agree mate, we were one of the away teams, the ‘home’ team finished 3rd.
But why pick an out of form carp venue in febuary.

We won our match too few weeks ago, Round 2 here we come, just need to keep away from the midlands big guns, never got through round 2 before so would be great to reach semi’s. Also just for the record if we come up against a team of cracks we would def take them to “dire” bit of canal somewhere and pray for a bite! lol
