chosserParticipantbought my daiwa seat box a year and a half ago it is the 200 series i know its not a expensive box but it has been a good box except for the guide lugs that keep the straps in place when on your back, they both snapped straight away
having these missing has not been a big problem as i mainly fish commercials but i went back on the canals this winter and with out them its impossible to carry the box ,i tried to make some but to no evail
whilst in the shop at the weekend i noticed they have altered them to a heavy duty one that looks up to the job ,i have just rung daiwa only to be told tough titties they are made in the far east and no spare parts like this can be optained i explained that they have obviously realised they were a fault with the box and said there is nowt she could do for me
not the response i was after end of conversation.so if anyone is an enginer out there i will pay for you to make some for me anyone else had this problem with this box ? -

TF_piperpilotNow that’s the great thing about Rive everything and anything can be bought almost off the shelf,

TF_piperpilotIMO very bad customer service from Daiwa. If it’s a design fault they should replace without question. I remember the original Preston Shuttle Barrow which had those awful plastic Axel fittings which almost always broke when loaded but Preston replaced them with a much sturdier fitting without question. In fact my local tackle shop had a few sets of spares in stock ready to give out immediately,

TF_Waveney OneRing Trading Standards 08454 04 05 06 and see what they advise. I would have thought that a design fault that has been rectified in manufacture should be dealt with free of charge by Daiwa.

TF_GaryRegardless of whether they are made in the Far East or in the East End of London, under Sale of Goods Act, the item must be fit for purpose and of merchantable quality. It sounds like you have an open and shut case here.
There is a precedent with Daiwa as well. When they first introduced the blue Tournament luggage, the holdall could not actually be fastened with the number of tubes in that they described as it was too short. They re-designed the holdall and anyone who wrote to them saying they had bought the original was sent a new, improved version FOC.
I would write to their MD or someone senior, explaining the situation. I think what you are asking for is perfectly reasonable and I am sure that they will agree.

I doubt Trading Standards will be able to do anything, as it was stated in the original post he bought the box 18 months ago, and you are only covered for the first twelve months for such things. I would imagine that unless the manfacturer admits there was design fault then it would be up to you to prove it.

porkyRobin Morley is the main man at Daiwa and is a very reasonable man. If you email Daiwa voicing youre concerns and ask them to forward it to Robin youll probably find that he will reply to you personally either stating the companys policy and / or with a resumption/solution to youre problem.

TF_OmmadawnYou should be contacting the retailer you purchased from and not Daiwa.

This is strictly true, your contract is with the retailer, not the manufacturer…. BUT, Daiwa have deep pockets and most tackle shops do not!
