‘Don’t be a victim of the great fishing line scam’ – that’s the message EFTTA is getting across to anglers in a new advertising campaign which starts next month.

The organisation is ramping up its 2014 Line Charter initiative, which targets line companies that make false claims about their products, by placing advertisements in consumer magazines across Europe.

It is a well known fact that prestons reflo line is thicker than it states, its been like it for years. Will they eventually sort it out??

About time too!!! Sick of buying some lines that are much much thicker than they state. I think only Pro-Mircon guarantee their diameters but some of the rest are just taking the micky. Try the W.R. Clarke (Silstar?) Match Team line in 0.16 next to the
Reflo power in 0.13. They are the same diameter.

Lots of lines are well out in either diameter/breaking strain or both.

The fish don’t care, why should we?

I’d think that most anglers do care!

If you bought a bag of groundbait that said 1kg on the packet but its contents were actually 850g would you care??

If you think about it, it’s wrong! In what other industry would it be acceptable. Though when we’re talking about hundreds of a mm, it actually can make a difference to our fishing

I’ve used it for years but I’m afraid Silstar has gone to the dogs, it’s diameters are alot thicker than they used to be.

Why not add pole length to the debate as well?
