TF_amushroomParticipantmorning fellow widscreen scrapers, its been seven days, so time to move on.
I am now far greater versed in whats involved, club constitution etc, etc.The proposal is for a free to join club which will be unincorporated, and cater for members who fish, or have an interest in fishing the lower and tidal thames.
It is proposed that it will be an internet based club, utilising an already established site, to carry out its business.
Initial costs will be met by members pledges and donations, this is to primarily cover the cost of joining Angling Trust and Fish Legal.
At the inaugural meeting, the constitution will be agreed upon, and club officials will be chosen, responsibilities delegated and agreement sought for joining Angling Trust and Fish Legal. The aim being to proceed for loss of amenity from Thames Water via Fish Legal with utmost speed. Thus satisfying those that join solely because of loss of amenity, not because they need another club.
Keith Arthur will be proposed as honourary president.
All other business will only be discussed if the elected committee deem it practical at this inaugural meeting. However facilities will be available to record what other proposals/concerns members may have, and a schedule agreed to respond to those concerns/proposals.Please bear with me with regards to constitution.
I hope that all this is satisfactory, as I have done my best, any errors I apologise for and will applaud you for pointing them out.
What we need now are pledges, both of donations and roles that people would like to fill.
In order for transparency would any person or persons willing to assist please do so on this thread.
Note that all pledges and assistance are not legally
binding, until you have decided that the constitution is O.K.Thats all for now folks, squeak soon

TF_simon paveyAnyone remember the last time Mogden was discussed on here? A representative/spokesman(from Mogden) joined in and gave an account of HIS position on the matter. I have searched for it but I cant find it.I also I feel it could be beneficial if a rep from the Angling Trust responded.

TF_amushroomParticipantMAJOR HICCUP FOLKS, FISH LEGAL CANT REPRESENT PROPOSED CLUB, NO LEASE OR LICENSE FROM THAMES WATER, SO NO REDRESS
shall we give up, continue anyway and accept it, or summit else [fathers for justice springs to mind], opinions please chaps
-
27/12/2009 at 9:47 am #86717
TF_Waveney OneI would carry on as a pressure group. It will mean a lot more work for someone though as whoever represents the club will need to do it all rather than use the professional services of fish legal.

Of course they can represent you , they are the voice of angling. They may not be able to claim compensation etc but you are a member and they are bound to represent your interests , all of the things your looking to do they can help you with , they can assist in lobbying your local MP , they can advise & support you as a pressure group they should be at the forefront of this issue . This is a great story and the Trust should be able to exploit it to the maximum with all their knowledge and a full governing body’s support.Amushroom you have done a great job but don’t give up just yet with the Sports Governing Body behind you things will start to fall into place I’m sure.

27/12/2009 at 10:59 am #86720
TF_Croydon_DaveSorry,Mushroom, I should have jumped in earlier re Fish Legal/Angling Trust. The “free section” of the Thames belongs to all and so no club can currently lay claim to it otherwise I am sure the LAA for example would have gobbled it up years ago!
That said when I made a big noise a few years ago over a major pollution and appeared on TV, there were legal people out there who were willing to take Thames to court pro-bono for loss of amenity etc.
Unfortunately I made a major loss of data in 2008 and so will have lost the relevant contacts (I have got a back up which MAY have relevant emails but will need to use a clean PC otherwise there is a danger of overwriting my current mail boxes).
Best wishes for 2010 and I think a pressure group could work – anything to prove anglers can fight their corner has to be welcomed
-
27/12/2009 at 11:14 am #86721
tweetI am sure the issue here is not loss of amenity but one of pollution , therefore the Trust and Fish Legal should be able to make a big noise about it now one of their affiliated clubs has brought it to their attention . What amushroom needed was the political clout to start a campaign and it would have been very difficult for him to do that off his own bat . Now instead of just the 200 members of the thames club he will have 13,000 members and the backing of Anglings National Body behind him , this is what all the debate on hear has been about and I am sure that on the back of this test case the Trust will go from strength to strength . IMO the trust needs to put all its support and legal knowledge behind this one , then the normal angler / fence sitter will see that the “Voice of Angling” has a true voice.
-
27/12/2009 at 12:13 pm #86722
TF_amushroomParticipantwaveney one, you have been supporting this idea from the beginning, and its bril.
tweet and croydon dave, thanks for your commentsI am just an insignificant angler, who for the past fourteen days, has committed every day in fits and farts to the idea, of righting a wrong.
support has been fab, and it is that support that has kept me at it, the unifying force throughout has been to see T.W. get its arse kicked,
how that is to be done now I do not know
I can continue to try and generate support, but legalese is like latin to me,
basically if people wish to continue thats great, but the time is approaching when better minds than mine will be needed and without them an ammateur like me will get mullered by T.W.SO CHAPS WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE

amushroom has the club joined the AT yet if so they should be picking this one up mate , that is what all your efforts have been about forming a club having a constituation etc etc , you have proven what can be done on a small scale ( and hats of to you mate ) let the team of specialist solicitors at Fish Legal and the lobbyist at the AT do the rest . This will be a test case but be rest assured the sports governing body will be behind you all the way mate. Just out of interest what dialogue has taken place with yourself and the AT so far. Keep up the good work mate.

TF_amushroomParticipantANYONE GOT A BACK GARDEN ON THE THAMES WE CAN LEASE FISHING RIGHTS FROM
-
27/12/2009 at 1:19 pm #86725
TF_steve ramushroom, the Magna Carta gives the right for people to fish the free stretches of the Thames up to the boundary point at Staines therefore no lease is required to my mind.
It is a law set in stone therefore it can be defended! Try Fish Legal again and remind them of that fact.PS You can add me to your member list although I’m not likely to fish any of the tidal stretches!
