can anyone recommend a good tip rod for distance fishing on Stillwater. must have power to get the distance with feeder fulls of bait but be sensitive to hit them taps from the roach, and be forgiving enough to absorb lunges from bream when using braid.have two hardy marksmen at the minute ( 11ft and 13ft), great for the casting, lovely rods but the tips are just too stiff for the job. I believe they brought out some fibreglass ones but are since discontinued and impossible to source. Or does anyone know of any other tips that will fit these rods?

Vicci, for a long cast with braid I’ve been using 11/ 13 ft medium aero cast feeder rod,it’s a good rod with the finer tips , shows up roach bites reasonably well, I’m not sure if they are made anymore though.good luck with your search

tricast 4 x 4 has a good forgiving action for braid

As long as your chucking normal sized feeder and not 3-4 ounces plus crumb and expecting to hit 60 yards on a trent or river you be fine

Daiwa Tournament 12 / 13′ Feeder rod, absolutely superb blank and fittings. I use mine on the rivers and broads and never bumps small skimmers/roach but is also powerful enough for powerful slabs which fight in the currents – cant reccomend one enough 🙂

Shop around for discounts got mine from Angling Direct who do good deals on Daiwa tackle
