Regards

TF_Team RattlerWhat are Tony Burke feeders?

TF_waveydavey21Basically it is a feeder with a ring of lead at the bottom, available in various sizes and colours.
They are very popular amongst anglers who compete in Irish Festivals as they fly straight and help cut through any winds.
I have let Tony know you have been enquiring about his products.
I have a photo of one and can email to you should wish to see one.

TF_rocketFeederThe Tony Burke ones are a green plastic tube with the lead moulded around the base. The Kev Leach, Spinners Tackle and new Preston Innovations ones are a cage with the lead moulded around the base. It’s possible to get some bike innertube, cut to size and slide over the cage such that that the cage ones are turned into something similar to the plastic tubes ones. 😉

TF_dendraYou can get heat shrink in various sizes that pulls up tight to Kevin Leach feeders over a kettle.
I have bought Tony Burke style feeders from VRAC in the past. -

TF_Team RattlerThink I’ve seen the tony Burke ones in my mates garage…
That’s a great idea with the shrink-wrap as I make my own version of cage feeder similar to the Kevin leach ones 🙂 -

TF_squattJust out of interest gents when/why would tape up a cage feeder? I use both homemade and the Leach cage feeders but only adjust the wetness of my mix if it’s deep water, I never tape one up.

TF_rocketFeederHi Squatt, hope your keeping well mate. 99% of the time I’m like you, I don’t tape up feeders, etc. The reason I got the plastic tube ones or put inner tube around the cage is purely when fishing rocky shelves and I want the feeder to rise very quickly. I agree there’s not really any need for regular tip fishing and the mix can be adjusted to cater for deep water. 🙂

TF_dendraI agree squatt ,much rather tone my mix in accordance with the depth of water.Under water feature in MF was also an eye opener regarding plastic feeders.

Nice one, well done. I’m still doing a fair bit, have bought a pair of the Browning Black Vipers 14ft S rods to try out. So far very impressed and the tips are great. Doing mostly Roach fishing at the moment but will be Breaming a lot later this year.

TF_squattMike, I have the King feeders. Do the viper tips fit the KF as I remember you had those also? I did look at the vipers but most of my uk fishing is done with 14ft Aerocasts.
