TF_JohnHI visit this site quite a lot and cant recall anyone being critical of their products. I honestly cant say the same for any other manufacturer.
I say this too as an angler who buys gear for fun and owns next to no Tricast gear.
Have I been misguided buying Daiwa poles for instance as they are made in the UK when Tricast poles are too??? -

TF_JohnHIn fairness not many shops stock poles, certainly not top end ones at 2k or so per throw.
I think I slavishly copied what most other anglers were doing on the assumption they knew better than me. -

TF_spotter1707I’m a Tri-cast user, & i live in sarf london. The Tri-cast stockists mentioned can get the poles or spares for anglers to look at/use. However, in the case of a spare top, Tri-cast charge £10 postage which is passed on to the consumer! Possibly this will deter dealers & consumers alike. With regards to the products I have 2 poles(Original XRS & a Neutron), 2 rods & a landing net handle. All products are BOMB proof. Spares still available for both poles & easily obtained from Tri-cast or main dealers (e.g. Highfield) mail order.

TF_wightangleri have some excellent tri-cast kit – but do feel they shoot themselves in the foot – take the DHP advertising row and ( presumably alleged award voting irregularities) – they’re now dropped from most larger tackle retailers ads as well.
Not exactly, the best policy for widening sales nationwide i’d have thought?
I’ ll take it as read – the pro-2 is a decent pole, having handled the old pro – strong but also light and well balanced, despite its tippyness. However, the pro 2’s garish graphics complete with 4 different fonts hardly invites non-brand new interest when compared to the slicker competition. What has looks got to do with the actual pole? – nothing at all – but then why was the term tackle tart coined?
The package of match and power kits with 2 different cupping kits also doesn’t inspire interest from those who haven’t bought tricast before, either, imo.
Now, before anyone says, you’re just knocking tricast – i’d point out that generally i prefer and would definitely put Tricasts after-sales reliability and their products generally over any other brand manufacturer.
Further, they’re British and made in England and have a thorough track record of quality top rods, poles, margin poles and nets that goes back to the early 1980s.
Whats not to like! 🙂So thinking is that they could be a much bigger player and deserve to be, and why i’ve posted out some minor cosmetic personal critical opinion.

TF_rocketFeederYes wightangler spill the beans. Was it definitely Tri-Cast? Was it ever confirmed
? :confused:I have 2 * Legend 4000’s, a Triune and Senator XS pole. I’ve previously had 2*5000’s and the Supremacy Pole. Can’t fault any of the gear at all, one of my 4000’s is 12 years old now and still chucks as well as modern rods tbh.

Good points, especially about the topkits. Thats the thing I like about the Map and Browning poles, having topkits that dont need cutting back and pre bushed at different bore sizes, but all the same length.

TF_redarmyjust ask for all match kits with a pro 2 no cutting back required and well capable of 14-16 elastics and mid double figure fish

TF_Fred DavisI bought a tricast pole once I was using a power maxim to target big carp on the far bank of the grand union canal snapped a couple of sections and thought I would need a more robust pole so ordered the highly rated Venum one of the range tricast carp poles and lo and behold was I surprised when on my first canal sortie the pole came up well short of the far bank so a wasted trip and gutted that the pole came up so short! after a month or two the number four splintered slightly, the only good thing about it was that it super glued back together easily, needless to say it was flogged off toot sweet, (the problem was I never really had a proper look at the pole, I had a look at one when the chap was fishing open water on a commy tried it and it felt ok on a flat calm day) the new owner was informed of it’s short comings including it’s lack of stiffness and considerable bounce and the fact that spare tops were in excess of £120 each!
bought a couple of new sections for the power maxim and lesson learnt.never ever looked at another and don’t intend to either.

TF_paulnewellThe Power Maxim was probably the strongest pole ever made . Great for Power lifters or similar types or them with a packed lunch and a big flask! Save it for antiques roadshow Fred you might get 500 £ for it . 😀 😀 😀

TF_Fred DavisPole Flogged long ago Paul however the chap that bought it his son still uses it to this day a bit heavy at 16 metres though, I think I then bought a daiwa 412 to replace it, which was a lot lighter and better balanced.

TF_paulnewellRare for me to get any 2nd hand value I usually got bits telescoped and held together with gaffer tape . Had a whisker roll round the car park at Tunnel just after he covered it with scrapings off the roads !!! The pole was only months old . There were about Eleven small dents and around 800 £ of damage . I flooded the dents with warm araldite and it hasn’t creaked . Bought a good spare for 700 ? Job Done ! Still waiting for sponsor but they favour the young uns these days !  😀 :p

TF_JohnHThe Tricast argument seems to stem from a review in MF late last year of top end poles. Alex declared the MAP pole as the best and some manufacturer cancelled all its advertising in MF. Alex didn’t say who it was but Tricast have not been seen advertising in said mag since. I think its been taken that they were the ones walking but its only here say I must add no one has come clean to declare this is fact.

TF_wightanglerif you check all the tackle retail ads. in dhp , you’ll find that they also have dropped mention of tri-cast – including fosters which if you look at 2013 issues mentioned tri-cast poles in particular amongst other pole deals.
Sadly, i pedantically bothered to go thru both m/f and pf in feb. and found the only mention in any ad. was in the multi-page fishermans friend ad.
😮

TF_bagging machineParticipantIt hasn’t put me off buying Tri-Cast gear, I have stopped buying the mags as they are full of avanti / dragon crap adverts, much prefer to surf the forums.
