Ive done it a bit myself, i fished one venue regulaly for a few years and you know every peg the lake moods ect and you get to frame every week making some cash along the way…..but…..i felt that it made my fishing quite one dimentional, doing the same thing in the same pegs week in week out if it works why change, you start to get lazy as well, especially as because you know the pegs so well you know on the draw if you have a chance or not and when fishing with a load of regulars you just seem to take it in turns to win of the fliers, as they are never wasted. On the otherside of the coin if you visit a venue with alot of regulars its very hard to get in the frame so for a venue owner it must be a tricky balance , the regulars come and pay up to 3/4 times a week all year round but can also keep attendances down and influence daft rules, as anglers are put off by the above situation. My enthusiasm for match fishing has increased of late more from visiting new venues than sitting in the same pegs on the same lake week in week out , im winning far less mind.you. I think the Club match system or the Uk Champs where different venues are used gives a far better measure of ability and also enjoyment.

I agree with you, im a one venue angler, who fishes with mostly the same anglers at weekends, its all about the drawbag at the start, when we go into fishos or mavers on different venues, we think we can compete, but hardly seem to collect much unless one of us draws a flier,Its more like a family of anglers who all feel safe and cosy, and enjoy the highs and lows of matchfishing together,,, youre born to fish either a regular or a rover,,,me, im a regular 🙂

Venue regulars are a good thing they build a foundation at a venue and thanks to them you know there will be a match

I’d say good for the fishery, the fishery would see them as regular customers. But I’d also say bad for the individual angler. Some people say the regular anglers that clean up every week actually scare others off, maybe they do but not me. Like someone else said, going to the same fishery every week must be 1 dimensional, I get bored if I go to the same fishery more than twice on the bounce. I like to enter competitions like fishos where venues differ vastly so going to different venues I think gives you more strings to your bow. The only down side I’d say if that I probably pick up money less often than the regulars because I’m never in the “feel” for a venue. But when I go I just fish to my strengths and sometimes it pays off.
