Depends on what, when, why, where, how and who? 😀

Maxima 3lb or 4lb for pellet waggler fishing at W/As.

Hmmm. Opinions tend to be divided. 🙁
Over the years manufacturers have made all sorts of claims to massive increases in technology etc.

Yet there cant be that many factories in Japan. 😉 😉

I suspect a lot of it comes from the same place but re-branded, as with a lot of tackle.

I have tried a few brands and have not been convinced and ended up going back to Maxima Chameleon. For me its all about how it feels in use.

But I don’t pretend to be an expert.

The Maxima is better value in bulk spools. 😀

Been put onto Genisis Smart 018 line up here or the Guru stuff. The guys who fish Messingham use it but they often have long chucks for big fish in open water. W/A lakes are quite narrow, say 20m on Twin Oaks so the Maxima is probably the way to go. I would err on the heavy side unless you can consistently cast inches off the far bank without hitting the grass.
In my experience 3lb maxima will break before 015 hook length thus leaving you re tackling up a lot. On the plus side you can wander across to the far bank after the match to get your floats back on T/O. You cant on the other lakes as you are casting to islands. .

Be carefull with splasher floats at W/A, Clint has a rule that only certain floats are allowed, about 8mm diameter on the visible top bit only no more.
If in doubt ask in the lodge and the guys will put you right.
