I run a small builders merchant and got caught a few years ago (before chip and pin) with about £3000 worth of power tools, the guy paid over the phone and sent a taxi to collect, I wasn’t there at the time and my staff released the goods, didn’t know anything was wrong until about 2 months later when I got a letter from the credit card company saying they wont honour the sale and nothing I could do. I get about 1 call a month with people asking for a price on 2 boilers or 50 sheets of ply (neither of which I could compete on price) paid for by phone and to be collected by someone else. Credit card companies aren’t interested although I believe there are different levels of cover dependent on your nature of business, mail order, internet selling etc, etc. but it is happening more and more in all industries
