        Hi,

Did anyone fish last night – if so any good results?

        Steve.

Nice one Ada – I went over to Browndown last night but it was hopeless. Too warm, too calm and too much of an easterly wind!! We could do with a good blow to stir things up again.

          Steve.

            4 Flounder,and a Whiting about 12oz.

£ of the Flonder are in the fride, due to deep hooking, but were all sizable…..

Looking at planning my next Sortie………….. :0)

Haven’t been fishing for fourteen months. Got a pass from the far far better half for last night. Dusted down the gear, sorted it all out, loaded up the SaaB and set off for Dengemarsh via Marsh Tackle (lovely worms Wendy). Arrived on the beach to find a steady E/S.E. breeze blowing. Flogged it for five hours before giving up. Three little Whiting and a miniscule Pout plus three lost lots of end gear (I don’t recall Dengemarsh being that snaggy before). At least I know it just wasn’t me, no-one else thatI spoke to fared any much better.

Today, sunny and windy! On one side sea was choppy and on the other water was clear. Summer frenzy is back with plenty of pelagic fish around feeding. In a few weeks the queen fish will start to feed and the GT’s I saw today feeding was probably too big to target on 40lb handline line! 😉

My friend had about 40 anchoivies which I kept in a small dropnet for live bait. Caught some decent gars when freelining anchoivies, biggest 60cm. The usual halfbeaks but there was a surprise! After an hour fishing, two mullet from nowhere got near my ground bait which were intended to keep the halfbeak feeding. Shy and I wasn’t expected them to feed among the reefs, which they didn’t (for a while) but after a landed a few fish I saw one having a nibble at the bread paste. I wasn’t interested but the two continued to feed. I was fishing with a 6lb mono snood with a size 18 hook, which instead of presenting a top water bread crust, I lowered a bread flake which sank slowly. The fish was clearly interested and started nibbling after a short while, I connected with the fish gently.

Never again, with no net this was a bad idea from me. Fought it for a few mins and the fish was still moving about when I brought it near enough for my friend to lift it. Measured it with a piece of rope which I measured when I got home, about 43cm.
