Salter Electrosamson Digitals about £50 off e-bay.

Have had two sets for years with no problems, always carry a spare fresh battery as precaution. Have snuck up on these scales from all angles with different weights and always read quickly and accurately. Weighing in fish the hold function is ideal as it will give you a readout after three or so successive steady readings.

Prefer digital over dials, as dials are prone to misreads by people who cannot read them properly and the constant over bouncing of the dial, which again causes some scalesman to call a weight too quickly and reckon they can tell what the weight is when the scales haven’t even stopped moving.

Buy yourself a decent tripod as this helps to eliminate errors.

            Hi.
We have some of them but they take forever to give the weight.

Been told the Fox ones are good.

Fox ones are best think we have had them all over the years.
Only trouble with the Fox ones is you cant switch them off you must take the battery out.

They may take a while but not forever 😉

If you don’t use a tripod with any of the wiegh scales they will take time to lock on, as with dials a steady reading is a combination of decent weigh bag that clings to the fish to keep them quiet and a sturdy non moving hanging point. Having someone hold the whole lot to get a reading is asking for problems.

I’ve got some really cheap scales that I paid only a tenner for and they are remarkably consistent and accurate so never be taken in by the higher priced models.

We use Electro Sampson in NZ but they don’t like the rain. The top where the hanging loop comes out let’s water in to the electronics, other than that very good.
