I was at a local fishery today and thought I was an early bird at 6.30 this morning. But there was someone before me. Good lad I thought – except he had his alarms twitching and beeping every few seconds. It was windy though..
Anyway,I was happy float fishing for roach for a few hours and I’d seen a couple of biggish fish slapping on the surface and generally having fishy fun. About 11 am I heard a couple of cars arrive in the car park and some door slamming and loud talking. I think 4 lads had arrived together and split into pairs and were moving around the lake – still talking away but carrying a big bucket. When 2 of them got by me they cheerfully called out ‘hows it going,caught anything etc?’. ‘Only roach and perch’ says little old me. So they stood there talking about how all of the best spots were taken by ‘some sod with a bloody pole’. Then about 20ft out a big tailed slapped the surface and disappeared. Bugger me,if these 2 geniuses didn’t then decide to duck down and keep quiet.
I did tell them that a good number of sizeable fish had been topping and surface feeding all morning. I also asked them if they were about to chuck that 10kg bucket of gubbins in and bugger everything up for the rest of us …dare I say…pleasure anglers? I wonder why they left? 😎
