The wife is buying me a new landing net handle for Christmas. Which one should i get?
I currently use a 3m Daiwa telescopic type which has served me well but not having used a take apart type i’m not sure which would be more suitable?

Majority of my fishing is on commercials so its got to be strong.

The prices for landing net handles seems to vary hugely so is it worth spending and buying at the top end of the range?

Any advice and opinions would be appreciated?

        Phil Bev.

Tri-cast or Drennan both quality made in Britain not China

Garbolino all the way as said in previous post expensive, but just the best for rigidity, strength.

Just bought a tricast trilogy and it is a major step up from the xrs which has served me very well for the last few years. You can’t go wrong with either, the xrs is a real work horse but the trilogy is a total thoroughbred, thin, light and very strong. If you put them side by side you will want the trilogy, and in my view be able to justify the extra cost without a problem.

Drennan, wont break the bank and wont break either! Got 2 and had them since they came out and there as good now as the day they were got from the shop.

Thanks for taking the time to respond gents.

Unfortunately, the Garbo option is well out of my price range (sounds the dogs but would be totally wasted on me).
A visit to Fosters this week to take a look at the 3.3m Drennan Series 7 and the Tricast XRS, as both fail within my budget. The take apart tip section on the tricast sounds a good idea.

                          Thanks again.

One thing to consider when buying a handle is the diameter of the handle. I have found that the slimmer style handles do not suit my grip and cause me considerable pain days later after a bagging session. I settled on a Netsy long time ago as it had a wider grip and also had a much longer reach than most at the time. This enables me to comfortably reach fish early and my hands suffer much less pain from over gripping. The repetitive strain of over closing your grip on slimmer handles and rod buts does in my opinion and experience lead to physical problems.

Whilst you are young and fit, you may not notice this problem and be unaware of the damage you are doing to your hands and wrists.

Buy the very best you can afford and if it means saving up then save. If you are buying a reasonable amount of gear from Fosters you may be able to buy the gear on the never never and spread the cost.

I have used a Daiwa tournament for the last 7 yrs with no problems at all , but bought the xrs in the link above a couple of days ago. Like there poles it is extremely strong and no one can compete with a 12′ 6 landing net handle for £34.99 posted imho .
