TF_allyParticipantAs long as you dont get stuff designed for fishing you cant go far wrong. Some great sking stuff about well cheap at the moment, wife got me a quality fat face coat and trousers for #30 at a recent warehouse sale. If they were a fishing brand you would be looking at #300. but if you want top notch go for sailing water proofs I have a Gul coat that is something else, not only has it never let water in, the cuffs are superb, and the material is streachy as hell, that was about a #100 a few years ago.

TF_OmmadawnI use the Daiwa black Tournament Gortex pole jacket and it is excellent. Feels very comfy whilst pole fishing and its waterproof properties are second to none.

I had the Preston stuff a few years ago and ended up throwing it in the bin. I’m not sure if they have improved it (it can’t be any worse) but after that experience I wouldn’t touch it again. Had the same experience with some Shimano stuff which was great for the first few outings then let me down badly.
I will only use Gortex now although the Protak stuff gets good feedback. -

TF_allyParticipantIt was Preston stuff that finished me with fishing tackle manufacturers gear.

DEEDOGDACEParticipantGuys, I’ve got Daiwa Tourny Goretex and it’s absolutely the dog’s danglies but guess wot I wore last winter? My 10 year old quilted Protak kit – if you need to keep warm (and dry) there’s nothing better on the market.

TF_shep2ive got tourney(original)goretex+its uncle frank~naughty leaks when it pours proper ive had 2 goretex pole jackets now +there not a patch on the old three quarter length goretex jacket i had before em in terms of warmth or waterproof qualities i think it runs into your nut+bum area off the short jacket whereas it bypasses that area with the longer coat ~think
