What do you use for converting the downloaded file and write to DVD?

Not that I would do, cos its very naughty to do it, but this is a way:

                    Download and install Utorrent
                    http://www.utorrent.com/

Open chosen movie torrent file from (dvdrip are best)
                    http://www.torrentz.com/

Then convert to IPOD (Mpeg4) format using Prism Converter
                    http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/

Load them into Itunes and watch on your TV using a AV Cable through your IPOD.

Otherwise use a programme to convert to DVD format and watch through a DVD player (if its a crap film, then youve wasted a DVD)

                    Simples !! (and free)

download the avi file, then convert it to dvd using winavi,
the above comment is a waste of time, i do wot ive said and hav done for years!!

bought a media player 18 months ago and just drag and drop the file into it,plug into the tv same as a ps3 and watch the file ,films, music, photos also keep all my documents on it in case of computer crash.this has saved me load of dosh as you dont have to spend time putting them on disc or buy the discs in the first place and is a good back up if you have only a small hard drive on your computer. i take mine on holiday with me.~clap

I use utorrent to d/l and ConvertX to DVD to produce discs.

The picture is better through an upscaling player on an HDMI link than playing avi through a USB.

Best torrent host by a mile is Demonoid.

Go on then skimmer roo, as you think my comment is a waste of time, why dont you answer the original question which yamma asked.

He wants to know a good way to watch and download new films.

How do you download avi files?

I know you can convert to DVD using winavi, or a million other conversion progs, as well as watch direct through media players, IPODs etc, but how do you get the avi files?

Is there a better free way than via torrents?
