        Which knot do you use to tie your spade end hooks?

        I myself use a pierotti 90% of the time. But perhaps there is a better way? I know Alan Scotthorne ties all his hooks by hand.

        Recently bought two Buffy’s boxes (superb by the way) and they take some filling.

        * drennan hooktyer?
        * matchmen hooktyer?
        * pierotti?
        * tying by hand via a whipping knot or a snell knot?

        What is the ultimate knot?

            Hi there fisherman-nl.
            I always hand tye using a whipping knot, but only on lines up to 0.14. Above that diameter I use eyed hooks.
            I bought a cheap fly tyers vice, which I use to hold the hook.
            One thing to watch is don’t catch the line on the hook point & the vice will help shield the point.
            Regards Peter.

              Whipping knot for me too, so much better than using a hook tyer which lazy anglers use ~shh

                I’m a pierotti man also for about 90% of my hooklengths. Only time I don’t use one is when on the bank for long feeder hooklengths or for eyed hooks with the knotless knot.

                I’ve also just got one of buffys long hooklength boxes and they are brilliant, quality is spot on.~clap ~clap ~clap

                  pmsl lazy anglers use hooktyers, so what’s wrong with using one?? a lazy angler sit’s there and does nothing if the first thing he tries doesn’t work rather than trying to make something happen in his peg

                    I’m lazy too – it’s the Drennan hoo tyer for me.
