        hi guys
        do you think that the problem has come from Gwinear as poor old simon had the same problem 3 yrs ago and he closed the lake !! with 25 anglers a week going to fish matches there they have they dragged it to whiteacers !! plus all the festivals that go on the desiease has spread ! GWINEAR is now empty my mates use to fish it loads !!!they have lost all there fish silver fish the lot with the same happening at whiteacres will just get taken all over the conrty by unexpecting anglers to poor other fisheries !! to be infected
        all that fished south area will know what happened to Viaduct and staffordmoor whterington farm a few years ago !! Viaduct do breed there own fish properly so how did it get there ! unlike whiteacres who buy fry in!!papers mybe right it will effect very fishery in the contry but the ones at risk maybe the ones that do not supply there own nets!! as anglers we are all responsiable i have been to whiteacres in the last few weeks and have disposed of my netts through fear of spreading anything i wonder how resposiable people will follow suite for what they cost!!

            just out of intrest, gwinear removed the silver fish in order to put more carp in. fact.

              It is so unlikely that the virus can be transmitted on nets as to not even be worth considering by DEFRA and CEFAS. Everyone seems to be forgetting that very soon after the Thams took over WA there were a lot of dead fish. This was before KHV had reached the UK – or was it? I have been told that the fish that are dying are old stock and could either be the batch that caused the deaths years ago or fish that were contaminated at the time and survived until this year when a combination of spawning abberations caused by poor weather creating variable conditions more than once, the same poor weather potentially creating run-off of slurry and/or fertilisers that invigorated the growth of blue/green algae which affected water quality reduced the immune systems of those previously-contaminated carp to the extent that the herpes virus flourished again.

              We’ve got to accept the fact that every water we fish is likely to be affected within the next five years, ‘natural’, commercial, specimen or match. If carp are in them, carp will die. Note I said LIKELY not DEFINITELY.

                    but if yu speak to steve at Viaduct he will tell you that it is the only way it could have get into there! or some idiot! dropping a koi in to his lakes !!and its funny how all above south fisheries where infected with in weeks of each other nets not and they pump there own water from under ground deep under ground

                            they removed the silvers btw the last fish deaths and yes it has been empty for months.

                            ps w/a bred their own fish in the stock ponds and have’nt bought a fish from a outside source for the last 5 or so years.

                                  as long as your nets are dry then viruses shud’nt/can’nt b transferred from one venue to another.

                                    I think you have to be open to the fact that this disease has possibly been around for a long time, perhaps longer than 10 years. Also you have to consider that fish that have it do not necessarly suffer the symptoms immediatly. It is also entirly possible that apparantly healthy looking fish only succumb once the enviroment/condition around them begins to affect them. Things such as stress, diet, water quality, can all have a negative effect. Once the imunity of these infected fish drops below a certain degree, they then suffer the symptoms & die. For all anybody knows, fish farms & fisheries could well have been breeding & supplying fish containing KHV without anybody even realising. It has only been the last few years where big fisheries are being affected with more & more losses that it is coming to the attention of the general angling public via the media. In addition, now that it is notifiable it cannot be swept under the carpet.
