TF_MICK THE BOOKIEVery interesting Jason.I have heard about this match, and although i applaude Marks enterprise and generosity i have a few reservations on this event.
I would love to see you and our angling chums compete in such a contest, but although i understand the regulars and club anglers have first options on entry,we know our friends of high quality will be waiting in the wings for a ticket.
Of course they would want to fish it,and i for one dont blame them for trying, but i think we all know where the £1000 will end up.I hope sincerely that i am wrong, but as a Bookie(retired),i know where my money will be….MTB.~shh ~shh ~shh ~think ~think ~think -

TF_RossnWhat a bloody stupid idea !!
Willinghurst has umpteen carp lakes and one silver fish lake. The anglers that support the open matches fish for carp on the carp lakes.
So does whoever has put the money up devise a match for the regulars…NO he comes up with a match that will be won by a member of Daiwa Dorking – The people that we never see from one year to the next, the money grabbers, the very same people who win 90% of all the pools money in the Surrey Winter League.
Really makes you feel wanted doesn’t it.

TF_BacseyParticipantA good idea but the wrong lake in my opinion,i dont mind fishing for a few skimmers in winter but not in the summer, also the carp would make it more open and give the regulars more of a chance. Also for me saturdays are a bit of a problem as i look after my son as my wife works.

TF_MARKHLDAS~sick I’m a member of Dorking AS, don’t think we have an angler capable of beating the Willy Massive. However there is a little match group down the road, some of their members might do ok.

TF_BacseyParticipantTo be fair Terry i dont think you will be sacking with big bags of skimmers do you?,plus the fact why are people so keen to fish Johns, would it not be best to let the lake settle down a bit as it has the makings of a great winter venue. This is just my opinion based on over eager anglers before put pay to its fish stocks.

lockieIt dont matter which lakes are used the best anglers will still win. If it was all on the carp lakes better anglers will still win over the coarse of 4 matches. Fishing against better anglers will make you a better angler I like fishing matches with the likes of dorking fishing it makes it feel like you have actually acheived something when you win. My pet hate in fishing is people saying im not fishing because there are better anglers there than me, then they go and fish club matches where they are one of the best anglers but they see that as ok.

TF_MICK THE BOOKIE5 BAGS OF GROUNDBAIT…12 CANS OF CORN….3 BAGS OF PELLET..=PRESSURE.
50 anglers on Johns lake with new fish stocks is a recipe for disaster imo.I hope i am wrong cause Willinghurst is my home, and i love the venue and its regular anglers. This match will be won each week by one of the “faces”,and the £1000 will end up in the “Main mans” wallet.I also like to fish with the best anglers and try and learn from them, but not for the sake of the lake…IMO of course…MTB. -

TF_teabagWould be easy to compete with a feeder to the central Island, but I expect this is going to be a pole only event?.
Don’t feel left out as it is up to whoever has put the money up to call the shots on what lake and rules, still won’t fish it though as I’m away for 3 of those dates. lol

Mark….If the wind is blowing like it did last Sunday, all you will be hearing is the sound of Tourney and Arity smashing. But the “Faces” can afford for their sponsors to replace them.Even at 13mtrs you cant hold the bugger back…1 grm float,0.11,and a foot over depth.I know what to do,but cant compete with our classy mates on the pole.
Come to think of it,if the feeder was allowed, fishing to the bar on the right peg could win the day….Maggot of course.Bag up Bob had 7 Carp for 35lb on Sunday on the method, and finished 2nd.Boy would that put some anglers faces out of cink..lol. -

Bang on the money
How do people expect top get better if they never take on or fish against the big boys these type of open matches are the cheapest fishing lessons people will ever get as long as they apply themselves and take the blinkers off

TF_BacseyParticipantI have no problem with fishing against the best around and do so in many matches that i fish,i just think that Johns should be left for a little while thats all.I think though if you were to ask the Dorking boys where they would prefer they would say Johns as it has a head of silvers and would make them tougher to beat.I like that kind of challenge and that is why i fish Steve Gardners league in the winter with varying sucsess and have learned a lot from it.I just think that this should run on the carp lakes to give the regulars a chance of a few pickups and with the right draws even win it,as i have seen many top boys blow out on the carp lakes, this wont happen as often on Johns. I cant fish these dates myself but have mates that fish the venue through the year and i am on their side.
